I'll take Ted's record in the first round over Ron Wolf or just about any other GM in the league.

Derek Sherrod - No impact (blame it on injury);
Nick Perry - 1 double digit sack season (out of 6) to date and he has 1.5 through 6 games in 2018. Perry is mostly known for his many injuries. Perennial Pro Bowler Harrison Smith selected 1 pick later.
Datone Jones. Bust.
HaHa Clinton-Dix. Some hate him, but he was a decent pick.
Damarious Randall. Bust in Green Bay because he was drafted to play out of position.
Kenny Clark. Best pick.
Kevin King. Ted traded out of the first, and King remains an unknown at this point.

This MEH drafting record would not have been such a big deal if Ted would have just tried to overcome his drafting mistakes by acquiring some veteran talent. Of course we all know he hated free agency and once Schneider and the others left he pretty much abandoned it. Ted also made almost no trades.

By contrast, Ron Wolf signed numerous free agents in addition to Reggie White and swung some pretty big trades (Brett Favre, Keith Jackson).

The Packers got rid of Ted for a reason, he just wasn't very good at his job the last several years he was in Green Bay and as the opening poster stated, the roster is paying the price for his failures.

I thought he was injured coming out of college and from what he said, he tried to push too hard to compensate for lost time which lead to his back injury. It's been a long time, so maybe I don't remember correctly.

Yep. He re-injured or exacerbated the injury while in the weight room. Nerd has blamed it on the strength coach for years. Now it's a broken leg. The point is it's anything but Teddy drafting an injured player that many other teams chose to take a pass on.

And almost as soon as the Harrell's injury happened, it was rumored they said the strength coach would be fired at the season end (which happened) because they blamed him... as rumors suggested they thought the strength coach was really pushing Harrell to find his maximum weight he could possible lift, letting him attempt some ridiculously high weight... and didn't have complete safety set-up when he struggled to lift something.

Of course this is all rumors - but the fact remains is it was said well before the season was over, and the rumor became true, as they did fire him... and there was the same rumor about firing the ST coach after he forced Jon Ryan out for Frost... so these rumors have a small sample of being true and correct.

Teddy did draft an often injured player, but his injuries weren't to his main core (which is what ended Harrell's career), until that weight room injury which then rumors suggested to be very avoidable.

Datone Jones. Had a leg injury as a rookie. Very much like Montravius Adams. You can call him a bust, but he's still in the league. Gets pressure, king of the "almost" sack. Again like Perry, a DE cast as an OLB. Dom Capers special.
HaHa Clinton-Dix. Pro Bowler.
Damarious Randall. Pro Bowler. Traded for value.
Kenny Clark. Pro Bowler
Kevin King. Future star.

Ron Wolf wasn't that damn good second half of his tenure. Revisionist history. No.

There are 7 rounds every year plus UDFA.

Name me 1 team who has hit on their 1st round picks Every year!

How many Super Bowls has that team won?

Also unlike most other teams Ted was almost always picking in the bottom 3rd of the draft.

Odds get even higher the pick will be a miss.

Funny how Randall is said to be playing out of positon.

Because of injuries, there was Randall playing CB for The Browns last week.

Those if you who want to hate on Ted Thompson ho ahead.

I just hope this new GM has the success Ted had in drafting.

Not just the 1st round but the whole draft and udfa's.

I was addicted to The Hokey Pokey, but I turned myself around!
