With GB's top 3 WRs out for this game against the Lions, the character of the 2018 Packers will be tested as their 3 Backup WRs have to step up and jump in the deep end of the pool. The TEs and RBs should be called upon to step up their play as well. IMO, it will clearly show if this team has the heart and depth to be better than last season's one dimensional (Rodgers) team.

If GB uses this game as an opportunity to build a better running attack, they could be a more balanced offense moving forward. If GB can come close to what the LAR's and NO's offensives have, it can only be a good thing.

I remember fumbling with Ahman Green (shudder). Actually I loved the guy as our RB. So many LBs and DBs got injured just trying to tackle him.

The rules have been changed bit by bit over the years to ever increasingly favor the passing game. You need to run it enough to keep defenses honest with their formations sure, but the best teams in today's game have defenses who can stop the pass and a qb who can throw it.

Nostalgia for the running game is understandable (grass is always greener) but I don't think it will result in a better record. The Packers built their offense around Rodgers just gotta ride out the injuries until things start clicking. Not the first time the Packers offense has started slow before heating up later in the year.

Ironically, though, I wouldn't want to live there. Life in Germany is a golden cage. A beautiful, comfortable cage, but a cage nonetheless.

dfosterf (2h) : Also, no more provision for a write-in candidate, so Martha is off the table at least for this year
dfosterf (2h) : You do have to interpret the boring fine print, but all stockholders all see he is on the ballot
dfosterf (2h) : It also says he is subject to another ballot in 2028. I recall nothing of this nature with Murphy

dfosterf (2h) : of the folks that run this team. I do not recall Mark Murphy being subject to our vote.
