Well atleast the NFL must think so after all they have made 2 rule changes just because of him. The first one was the famous fumble oops i mean the famous tuck rule play (that noone heard of before that) and now they have just added that a player on the ground cannot hit the qb. I guess we are now getting closer and closer to flag football. Thats why these guys get paid the big bucks is because it is a high risk game. Here are some of the rule changes that came down today.

NFL | Several special teams rules passed
Tue, 24 Mar 2009 11:26:15 -0700

Barry Wilner, of The Associated Press, reports the NFL owners have passed a rule stating blocking wedges on kickoffs will not be allowed to have more than two players forming the wedge. Also, a rule stating the kicking team is not allowed to have more than five players bunched together pursuing an onside kick was passed.

Now isn't this getting just down right stupid.

NFL | Rule on hitting defenseless receiver passed
Tue, 24 Mar 2009 11:24:37 -0700

Barry Wilner, of The Associated Press, reports the NFL owners have passed a rule that initial contact to the head of a defenseless receiver will draw a 15-yard penalty.

We will call this next one the Hines Ward rule after breaking that guys jaw.

NFL | Blindside block rule passed
Tue, 24 Mar 2009 11:24:20 -0700

Barry Wilner, of The Associated Press, reports the NFL owners have passed a rule that a blindside block can't be delivered by a helmet, forearm or shoulder to an opponent's head or neck. If a player violates the rule, he will receive a 15-yard penalty.

and of course the 2nd Brady rule

NFL | Rule on low hits on QBs clarified
Tue, 24 Mar 2009 11:18:43 -0700

Christopher L. Gasper, of the Boston Globe, reports the NFL Competition Committee has adopted a clarification of the current rule on low hits on the quarterbacks. The addition states it is prohibited for a defender on the ground who has not been blocked or fouled directly into the quarterback from lunging or diving at a quarterback's lower legs.

Welcome to the WIMP league. Whats next you cant hit the qb in the numbers from behind?

Just disgusting. Just imagine these rules in the 60's none of the legends would be legends now.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

Wow...they should just put foam padding on the ground too just in case someone gets tackled hard, they at least have a soft landing.

The quarterbacks should just wear the red jerseys they wear in practice on the gamefield.

PS. I hate the title of this thread but it fits.

This does fit.

New rules coming up....

You can't look at a QB in a menacing way. Might hurt his self-esteem.

After sacking a QB, you have to help him up and give him a hug afterwards and explain to him that it's your job but you really love him and hope it didn't hurt too much.

This makes you think though, will this drive people to a new upstart league. I mean, the XFL was way over the top, went way to far in the wrestling direction, it seemed (And to redneck for me). If this new leagues just gets back to 1990 rules or so, I think it might add a little to their fanbase.

Anyway, this is getting quite out of hand, indeed. Pretty soon you have to tap a QB on the hips to get a sack, I'm afraid.

Soon, sacking the QB will result in a 15 yard penalty, automatic first down, and rewarding the team that was sacked 4 points.

This is beyond ridiculous.

Rock there is actually a 4 team league starting this fall, I made a post about it somewhere on here. But i agree they keep taking away the game of football and fans will switch over. In another 10 years they will change it to the NFFL the National Flag Football League.

I heard they are gonna lace up each QB with barbed wire. So if anyone tries to touch them, they will lose a finger or two.

I know what the NFL is TRYING to do. Make games more exciting, buy making sure of higher scores. Protect the QB, give him more time to make exciting plays.
But to me, that takes away from the game. Whats the sense of even having a defensive line, if you can't go after the QB?

Of course.......we didn't have that problem last season, as our D-line was already playing by the "can't touch the QB" rule. So that should put us ahead of all the other teams.

I really don't understand the tuck rule point you are trying to make. That rule was there already. It just hadn't been seen in such a significant game at such a significant time. The rule was already there.

Pretty lucky call though on Brady's part.

Zero2Cool (15h) : Fake news. Cowboys say no
Zero2Cool (17h) : Mystery candidate in the Cowboys head coaching search believed to be Packers ST Coordinator Rich Bisaccia.
beast (23-Jan) : Also why do both NYC teams have absolutely horrible OL for over a decade?
beast (23-Jan) : I wonder why the Jets always hire defensive coaches to be head coach
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Still HC positions available out there. I wonder if Hafley pops up for one
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Trent Baalke is out as the Jaguars GM.
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Jeff Hafley would have been a better choice, fortunately they don't know that. Someone will figure that out next off season
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Aaron Glenn Planning To Take Jets HC Job
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Martha- C'est mon boulot! 😁
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Thank you
wpr (22-Jan) : Z, glad you are feeling better.

Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Thank you. I rarely get sick, and even more rarely sick to the point I can't work.
wpr (22-Jan) : Beast- back to yesterday, I CAN say OSU your have been Michigan IF the odds of making the playoffs were more urgent.
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Glad to hear you are feeling a bit better.
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : I've been near death ill last several days, finally feel less dead and site issues.
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : It is a big deal. This host is having issues. It's frustrating.
Martha Careful (22-Jan) : just kidding...it was down
Martha Careful (22-Jan) : you were blocked yesterday, due to a a recalcitrant demeanor yesterday in the penalty box for a recalcitrant demeanor
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Was that site shutdown on your end or mine? No big deal, just curious
beast (21-Jan) : That way teams like Indiana and SMU don't make the conference championships by simply avoiding all the other good teams in their own confere
beast (21-Jan) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.
beast (21-Jan) : You can't assume Ohio State would of won the Michigan game...
beast (21-Jan) : Rankings were 1) Oregon 2) Georgia 3) Texas 4) Penn State 5) Notre Dame 6) Ohio State, none of the rest mattered
wpr (21-Jan) : Texas, ND and OSU would have been fighting for the final 2 slots.
wpr (21-Jan) : Oregon and Georgia were locks. Without the luxury of extra playoff berths, Ohios St would have been more focused on Michigan game.
wpr (21-Jan) : Zero, no. If there were only 4 teams Ohio State would have been one of them. Boise St and ASU would not have been selected.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : So that was 7 vs 8, that means in BCS they never would made it?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : A great game. Give ND credit for coming back, although I am please with the outcome.
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : FG to make it academic
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : and there's the dagger
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooo 8 point game with 4 minutes to go!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooooooohhhhhh he missed!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Ooooo that completion makes things VERY interesting
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Game not over yet
beast (21-Jan) : Oh yeah, Georgia starting quarterback season ending elbow injury
beast (21-Jan) : Sadly something happened to Georgia... they should be playing in this game against Ohio State
beast (21-Jan) : I thought Ohio State and Texas were both better than Notre Dame & Penn State
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame getting rolled
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : Ohio State just got punched in the gut. Lets see how they respond
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame vs the Luckeyes, bleh
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Oh snap!!!
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : Even Stevie Wonder can see that.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : Nah, you see Lions OC leaving to be HC of Bears is directly related to Packers.
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ohhhhhhh Zero is in TROUBLE
packerfanoutwest (21-Jan) : Zero, per your orders, check Bearshome, not packershome
