I get the impression that Arod and the Packers simply don't know yet. I don't see it as a having anything to do with holding out on the Vikings or anything other than if he's good enough to go on Sunday he will. It's encouraging that Aaron Rodgers says it's getting a little better every day....on the other hand he hasn't practiced yet.
So I totally get that at this point it's probably a toss up whether he's ready Sunday or not. It does appear that they haven't found anything that would cause him to be out long term so I'm thankful for that. After watching the replay I was thinking "here we go again".
It sucks that it's the Vikes because we need at least a split with them to win the North but there will still be 14 more games so that really can't enter into what they finally decide.

To exaggerate the importance, think of it as planning for Michael Vick vs Eli Manning. One stands in the pocket, the other makes plays outside of the pocket. This isn't something that's going to kill the Vikings, but for game planning, it absolutely matters. Do you play press to stop quick passes and then to find out he can roll out? Do you play soft knowing your defense is going to get push from the middle or the edge or a blitz and try to jump a pass?

There's a lot they game plan for. (not that you didn't know already, but just for anyone who may not be cognizant)

I can see both sides of this. To me, the Vikings can spend about 10 minutes to prepare for Kizer. (Half of which could be used for the laugh track) and the rest of their time on Rodgers.
I’m pretty sure Aaron Rodgers won’t be very mobile, so they can plan for that.
The real planning better be by the Packers IF Rodgers is in fact playing, to make sure he can get rid of the ball FAST, so he doesn’t get KILLED!

What they are preparing to do is (speculation here) get pressure up the middle. If they get pressure up the middle and Rodgers burns them, they will gauge how mobility. Oh shit he's moving REALLY good! We need to adjust our plan to the mobile plan. If they see him hobbling around, they will have their corners press and play tighter with the same pressure up the middle. I say up the middle because I believe the Guards are the weak spot vs their strength on the DL. Rodgers is very capable of stepping up into a pocket and murdering you if you try to collapse the pocket from the outside.

Does the injury to Rodgers leg hurt the Packers ore Vikings more? I think the Vikings, only marginally because once they see Rodgers can move just fine vs can't move just fine, they will switch their game plan.

What I'm saying is the first quarter is going to be the deciding factor in how the Vikings play quarters 2, 3 and 4.

The Packers should play possum a little bit. Keep Rodgers out from practicing to give the illusion he can't scramble at all. Then the offense use a quick passing game over and over again until you see the defense open up and then on a crucial third down Rodgers scrambles to get the first down to seal the win!

Okay, I drifted off into dream land there, but I hope I gave my point of view adequately. Even though it might be wrong.

I'm 100% the Vikings would rather go against Kizer totally unprepared opposed to playing against Rodgers with a week's worth of preparation.

Rodgers may be willing to play with a less than game ready left knee, but the question remains weather McCarthy would be willing to risk more injury to GB's star player to gain a win. IMO, Rodgers injury while not season ending, is bad enough to not risk his and the Packers future by playing him this week.
