Kind of funny. I was thinking about this yesterday while sitting in the dentist chair. If Aaron Rodgers doesn't get injured, do the Packers change their game plan? I don't think so.

Well, how was that for a season opener? Everyone, finally, doing all right about now? After looking at #Packers on twitter at half time, I’m glad that some who jumped off the nearest bridge ended up flying and those who took a long walk of the short pier were able to swim. I’m sure right about now your heart rates are close to back to normal. I’m more talking to fellow APC writer Matub on that one. For a little context, he sent our APC group chat updates on his bpm during the fourth quarter. He hit 121 on the Cobb touchdown and 109 after the Nick Perry sack to end the game.

Reading the papers on Monday morning, there were many articles on how the Packers won Sunday night. Mostly, they were talking about how amazing Aaron Rodgers played, on one leg, after being carted off the field. Some were about how Matt Nagy played so conservative when he should have went for the throat and there were even some giving credit to how stout Mike Pettine’s defense played after the first quarter.

All are noteworthy reasons to why the Packers had one of the most remarkable comebacks in recent memory. However, the real reason the Packers won that game was BECAUSE of the Aaron Rodgers injury. That’s right, if Aaron Rodgers would not have gotten injured and carted off, the Packers would have lost the game.

It is interesting to think that an injury won us the game. A big HOWEVER, I really don't think we get as far behind in the game if Aaron doesn't get hurt. Kizer made a couple mistakes that I am not sure Aaron makes. Perhaps Aaron loses the strip/sack which prevented a FG, but no way Aaron throws that pick 6. Being down by (10-13) perhaps the comeback is possible.

I also wonder whether some of the comeback was possible due to the conditioning of Mack. He was lights out the first half. No doubt we made adjustments and Bulaga stepped up and did a pretty fine job the second half, but was it because Mack was getting gassed? I have no doubt Mack was keeping himself in shape throughout his holdout. I am just not sure if you can replicate NFL training camp and football fitness in the gym.

Certainly Mack was a bit gassed. I don't think it was the whole 2nd half. Keep in mind he chased down (sort of) Cobb on his 75 td run late in the game.

I did expect him to be less effective because of conditioning.

I said the same thing yesterday. I wouldn't go so far as to say they WOULD HAVE LOST like the article says because, like TKT says, they may not have been down by 20 and they may have figured it out at halftime anyway...maybe. Still the injury forced them into a game plan that ended up winning the game . Whether they would have decided on that course of action without the injury we will never know.

Mack may still have gotten gassed in the second half, though I am sure the hurry up helped in that, and that may have contributed, along with less of a deficit, to similar results but like I said we will never know.

We can never know what would have happened had Rodgers not gotten hurt but we do know what happened when he did.

My question is : why did it take an injury to AR to figure out what to do to move the ball???
Shouldn’t have MM been able to figure that out BEFORE it cost AR his knee?

A good coach would have figured that out when the “normal” game plan was blown up in his face.
