Some might recall that my step-son is friends with a draft prospect.

I talked briefly with the kid this past summer. He was convinced he'd go in the late first round. Being the evil individual that I am, I was semi-hoping my kid would join the kid-in-question's entourage/posse'/whatever...hopefully in a city nice and far from mine. (Can you tell my kid still lives with me? )

Not really, j/k... My kid is sticking with his jarhead plan.

Anyway, "Shady" was sick for the combine, but he ran for Pitt's pro-day. The results were not good.

I keep going back to my kid calling this kid arrogant. Pot meet kettle kind of statement. For the record, I found the kid to be respectful, but (whatever charity I might have needs to be applied right about now) let's just say he is no brighter than my kid, either. There is no way he weighed that much when I met him (see below). He looked like a basketball guard to me. I have heard the term "lightning in a bottle" applied to him, and I honestly thought there was a possibility that he would go REAL low in the 40. Gotta wonder what happened. Maybe someday I will get to ask him. I'll let you know if I do. I suspect a cautionary tale will be forthcoming.

LeSean McCoy/RB/Pittsburgh: McCoy's highly anticipated workout turned out to be a pedestrian affair. He tipped the scales at 204-pounds, ran the 40 in the low 4.5s and posted a 28-inch vertical jump. Scouts have said McCoy is skinny up top and may not have the body type to take an every-down pounding at the next level. McCoy likely watched whatever slim chance he had of being a first round pick vanish this week.

If he just droped out of the 1st, he'll still get drafted I guess. Maybe getting drafted in the 3rd or so will put a damper on his arrogance (that your kid saw in him) or he'll just wisen up a little and he can still get out like Steve Slaton or Mat Forte did last year. Win-win situation to me.

Agreed with Rockmolder.

A good dose of reality usually drops arrogance down a notch or 2.

Let's see. possible first rounder, pedestrian combo numbers, sliding in most people's eyes.........

Sounds like he has a good chance of ending up a Packer!

Maybe you can rethink this thing..

McCoy Makes The Rounds
Posted by Mike Florio on March 26, 2009, 7:33 p.m.

Former Pitt tailback LeSean McCoy, who left school with two seasons of eligibility remaining, is getting special attention from several teams.

Per a league source, McCoy has had private workouts with the Broncos, Eagles, and Bengals.

McCoy had a so-so Pro Day workout earlier this month. And he was candid about it.

I dont think I blew out anybody with the way I performed, McCoy said. Ill be honest with you; I wouldnt say that. But I think I did fairly well. I think they were more impressed with my strength. As far as a running back, I think everybody knew I could catch the ball, I could run and I could cut.

I wanted to blow out my 40, which I didnt.

McCoy ran the 40 in the 4.5-second range. He wasnt able to work out at the Scouting Combine in February because he was ill.

Zero2Cool (20-Nov) : He landed good players thanks to high draft slot. He isn't good.
Zero2Cool (20-Nov) : He can shove his knowledge up his ass. He knows nothing.

Zero2Cool (19-Nov) : What? Why? Huh?

Zero2Cool (19-Nov) : The Jets fired Joe Douglas, per sources

buckeyepackfan (17-Nov) : Pretty sure they already have scouting reports on guys who aren't even starting for their college team. The future is now for me.
buckeyepackfan (17-Nov) : I tend to let Gute and Co. Worry about the future.

buckeyepackfan (17-Nov) : Jaire and Evans Williams are both ACTIVE! Good news.
Martha Careful (17-Nov) : The badgers really need to change the whole offensive scheme. No draws no screens plus the quarterback is marginal
Cheesey (17-Nov) : If the Badgers had a decent QB, they would have won. The guy can't hit a wide open receiver
Martha Careful (17-Nov) : chop block
Martha Careful (17-Nov) : there was a very questionable job Block call that upon viewing replay was very borderline
