Based upon the knowledge currently at our disposal, this was a GREAT draft. Our GM did a GREAT job in the present moment, not only netting js a stable of good young players, but an extra first rounder next year. BOOM.

To me, it is a fallacy to judge a draft three hears later. Hindsight is 20/20. You never know what is goin to happen to a team or a plauer, particularly on a franchise like ours that can never keep guys healthy.

I don’t want a GM that can name great drafts in the past that have already happened. I want a guy who can get down in the trenches WIH THE KNOWLEDGE CURRENTLY AVAILABLE, and give me the best chance at winning, going forward.

I also think draft should be graded a bit differently now as opposed to three years from now. In three years you look at how the players chosen are performing and base the grades on production. Right now we have no clue as to how they will perform but so many want to grade on how the THINK a player will perform and I think that is wrong. You have to look at team needs and how they were addressed by position more so than by players. You also have to make an assumption that the players chosen will at least not completely suck. That's why when you see a team that drafted 3 WRs late get headlines like "More weapons added" and you know its likely they will fail you have to assume that maybe they won't. I think that's why you see so many A and B grades now, the Graders are giving the players the benefit of the doubt as they should. Those throwing out grades of d and f are projecting their personal biases on the players that realistically shouldn't be done for a couple of years at least

If the Packers would have chosen someone like Guice in the first round the grades would have all been a lot lower and deservedly so since RB was not a perceived high need and Guice was not generally perceived as worthy of that high of a pick. In three years if he has three league rushing titles and 2 SB rings its going to make the draft look a lot better.

The Packers had a strong need at CB and they got two of the best in the draft. They had a need at WR (although some will say they didn't) and they addressed it and they got one guy that many thought would have been long gone by the time they grabbed him. I think that's a huge win.

The only thing that would keep me from giving the Packers an A or an A+ is the failure to address the need for a pass rush. On the other hand the way the first two rounds panned out (losing the third rounder to move up to get Alexander and Jackson still being available) probably changed that. If Jackson was gone Gute may have taken an edge rusher or maybe he would have taken Miller or Chark and not taken so many WRs later on leaving more picks to address the pass rush. That is being flexible and you can't fault a GM for that.

I like the players the Packers got and for that I would give them an A but for not getting the pass rush I knock it down to an A- or or even a B+ even though I understand why it may have happened.

I don't know a damn thing about college players and didn't watch any non-Badgers football so I can't speak too well on a grade. However, I have read and listened to a lot of scouts and college "experts" who have spoken quite highly about several of the Packers draft picks. Naively, I feel confident in this draft in a way I haven't in a few drafts so I'm going to roll with an optimistic A+.

Many of us were informed through TV, Radio, as well as Internet sites just who were considered the best at their positions and/or the top 50 to 100 college players entering the draft. It is not so difficult to say that this team addressed their QB need or that team's already great defense just got scary because they drafted a top 5 overall rated player. Grading a team's draft at this time is not a final grade as to the groups success or failure, but did a team make smart decisions that could bloom into success moving forward.

I can't expect some of you suspend your analytical positions and give your self over to more than your statistics and bottom line numbers. After all it is not easy for some to get their head out of their wpr (wide posterior repository) . Relaxing and having a moment to freely express their feelings on something does not come naturally.

Let’s face it. No one knows for certain what the FINAL grade of these newbies will be until they actually play.

Think back,...when Ryan Leaf was touted as the next great QB. He crashed and burned. Andre Ware, Matt Leinart, and so on. You could name hundreds of players that they thought would be great.
And the other way around, late picks that blossomed. Tom Brady, our own Donald Driver and so on.
It’s easy to judge now, but the end results won’t be known for awhile.

I am very hurt that you decided to make a personal attack on me Smoker.

Not really. I don't whine like others do when people have the audacity to express a different opinion.

Just like I find it hysterically funny that you feel that you have enough knowledge of the players to give the draft a grade even though no one has put on a jock yet but it's too early to take a guess at which players will make up the team. You do realize that no one's life hangs in the balance right? Oh wait you don't want to play because I started the thread. Good for you young man.

beast (21-Dec) : So far the college playoffs have sucked... One team absolutely dominates the other
beast (21-Dec) : Well even if you weren't positive towards a guy, you wouldn't nessarily want to tell the media that (if they don't know about it)
Martha Careful (21-Dec) : I think MLF want Love to look past the end half issues, and feel good about his play. Our coaches generally keep a very positive tone.
beast (21-Dec) : I think a great running game will do that for most QBs
packerfanoutwest (21-Dec) : Coach Matt LaFleur has said quarterback Jordan Love is playing the best football of his career.
beast (21-Dec) : Oh, that's how you keep beating buckeye, with cheating
Zero2Cool (20-Dec) : There is a rule that if your name starts with 'b' you lose 15 points. Hey, I don't make the rules, I just enforce them!
wpr (20-Dec) : and then there is Beast. Running away with it all.
beast (20-Dec) : As of tonight, 3 way tie for 2nd in Pick'em, that battle is interesting!
beast (20-Dec) : Lions vs Vikings could be the main last game as it could determine division winners or #1 vs #2 seed
Mucky Tundra (20-Dec) : Or if KC needs to win for the #1 seed
Mucky Tundra (20-Dec) : Right now it looks like the only prime worthy games are Det-Minny and KC-Denver (if Denver can clinch a wild card spot)
Mucky Tundra (20-Dec) : The entirety of week 18 being listed as flex is weird
Zero2Cool (19-Dec) : Matt LaFleur today says unequivocally "Ted Thompson had nothing to do with the drafting of Jordan Love."
Zero2Cool (19-Dec) : Apparently, the editing is what pieces comments together. That Ted thing ... fake news.
Zero2Cool (19-Dec) : LaFleur "opportunity that Ted Thompson thought was too good to pass up"
Zero2Cool (19-Dec) : Jordan Love pick was Ted Thompson's idea.
Mucky Tundra (19-Dec) : Kyle Shanahan on signing De'Vondre Campbell as a FA last offseason: “We obviously made a mistake.”
packerfanoutwest (19-Dec) : Alexander’s last season with GB
Martha Careful (18-Dec) : if I were a professional athlete, I would probably look to see who the agent is for Kirk Cousins and then use him
beast (18-Dec) : $100 million fully guaranteed Kirk Cousins gets benched for rookie
Mucky Tundra (18-Dec) : a lower case b
Mucky Tundra (18-Dec) : The real lie is how beast capitalized his name in his message while it's normally spelled with
packerfanoutwest (18-Dec) : haha that's a lie
beast (17-Dec) : Despite what lies other might tell, Beast didn't hate the Winter Warnings, it felt refreshing to Beast for some reason.
Zero2Cool (17-Dec) : whiteout uniforms in general are pretty lame and weak. NFL greed at it's worst
Martha Careful (17-Dec) : The Viking uniforms, the whiteout uniforms specifically absolutely suck
beast (17-Dec) : Thanks Zero2Cool, looks a lot better now
beast (17-Dec) : Seems like someone has a crush on me, can't stop talking about me
Zero2Cool (17-Dec) : Should be gooder now. The forum default theme went to goofy land.
Zero2Cool (17-Dec) : What the hell
packerfanoutwest (17-Dec) : yeah beast hates the Winter Warning Unies
Mucky Tundra (16-Dec) : Okay I'm glad to know it's not just something happening to me lol
Mucky Tundra (16-Dec) : Zero, did you copy the Packers uniforms from last night and white out the board?
beast (16-Dec) : Oh crap, is the board going to the Winter Warning Uniforms too?!? It's all white on white right now!
Zero2Cool (16-Dec) : WR Odell Beckham Jr is officially a free agent after clearing waivers.
Zero2Cool (16-Dec) : Packers are 6th in sacks.
Zero2Cool (16-Dec) : RB David Montgomery will undergo season-ending knee surgery.
Mucky Tundra (16-Dec) : Dan Campbell on onside kick with 12 minutes left: In hindsight, wish I didn’t do that
Zero2Cool (16-Dec) : They have that whole 12th man thing so ...
Zero2Cool (16-Dec) : Of the times we've played there, I just can't recall hearing our fans.
wpr (16-Dec) : Well done jdlax. Well done.
wpr (16-Dec) : I think more likely to be Pack fans that live in the area.
