Every draft has QBs ( and other positions) that end up being busts.
It can’t be easy as a GM, having to try to figure out what “can’t miss” player actually can be great.
Not an easy thing to do, when there are hundreds of college kids to try to pick from.

I don't see the Packers drafting a QB. I could see them trading back to a QB needy team. I hope not.

I'm probably in the minority, but I think this year's QB class is overrated. I see bust potential in all of them.

Sam Darnold - Was a turnover machine in college. You willing to bet that will change going against NFL defenses?

Josh Rosen - Has questions about his passion/devotion to the game. Won absolutely nothing in college.

Josh Allen - Has the tools, but hasn't had a season with a good completion percentage since his JV season in high school. Yes... NFL teams actually looked that far back into his past lol.

Baker Mayfield - Obviously has to make an attitude adjustment if he wants to be a face of a franchise. Doesn't have the "desired" height for the position. Also he played in the Big Twelve, where defense is frowned upon.

Lamar Jackson - Has accuracy issues. Missed a lot of easy throws and rarely "threw guys open." Plus, if you're not built like Cam Newton, slender running QB don't tend to hold up long. Look at RG3 and Deshaun Watson.

I probably wouldn't trade much draft capital to move up, but if Rosen is there and we don't take him, I do think I will be pissed. A pure passer.

Rodgers will keep playing at a high level for 4-6 more years imo, so I think were having the succession conversation a couple years too soon.

So far Rodgers hasn't been 1/10th the problem Favre was late in his career. I don't see the comparison at all.

With Rodgers healthy I just don't know when we would be drafting this low again in the foreseeable future in order to possibly get our next franchise QB.

I think sitting at 14 should be fine and there is a chance that BPA and one of our needs match up perfectly. I wouldn't jump on a corner with 14. I'd take someone who helps the front 7 and this awful pass rush.

Possibly there at 14:
Harold Landry
Leighton Vander Esch
Tremaine Edmunds (most doubtful of the 3 being there at 14)

I'd also add Derwin James to the above because of his versatility and being able to play 3-4 positions on defense.

Once I get one of those guys, I am using some of my NFL-most (12) draft picks and I am trading back into the 1st or into the early 2nd and taking one of the stud corners that may be left.

From what I have been reading the sweet spot in this draft is in the 2nd and third rounds. If true GB is sitting very nicely without having to make any moves. Especially now owning the first picks in round 3 and four. Not saying they won't make a move but the beauty is they don't have to. I do see multiple moves starting with the 4th round picking off players with a lot of upside. I could see a move up a few spots in the 2nd if they don't go CB in round 1 maybe giving up that first pick in the 4th round on day 3. That's always a great pick to have in the pocket for any team.

No QB early please. This is an opportunity to add overall team talent that comes along rarely for this team. A good draft along with a healthy 2017 draft class that makes strides puts them in contention in '18 and and sitting pretty in '19 and '20. We have the best QB in football. Just put a few more players around him so he doesn't have to perform miracles to win so many games.

IF, and it's a big if, the Packers believe there is a franchise QB sitting on the board when they draft, I can't see any reasonable justification for passing on them. An organization has to trust their scouting. If there is a QB sitting there that they believe could be the next Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady, Drew Brees, or anything even close to some combination of those guys, how could you pass him up? Players like that change the face of franchises and make or break careers. Worst case scenario, you develop the player for three years, let them showcase occasionally, and then trade them for at least a couple 1st round picks, possibly. That's a nice return on investment in addition to have the insurance for a Rodgers injury. Or another "worse case" scenario, let him develop for three years behind Rodgers, trade Rodgers for a decent pick, and maintain an elite franchise QB for the next 12 years while still getting some return on Rodgers.

Again, if the Packers scouting tells them any of the top QBs have this ability, they have to trust their board. If there are any questions, then it makes it much easier to pass and that's great. But if Rosen was sitting there, the Packers pass for a mediocre or even a "good" player (e.g. DB, LB like a Nick Perry), and Rosen ends up one of the top QBs in the league for 12 years, we would all be in deep regret. It could set the franchise back a decade or more.

It all comes down to trusting the board without thinking about immediate needs or circumstances. All those can change in one play anyway. The Packers need to get our of the habit of drafting for immediate needs and draft for the future. Free agency and player development are for immediate needs, not the draft.

The Packers now have 4 QBs on the roster, Rodgers, Hundley, Kizer, and Callihan. BG ain't looking just yet for Rodgers replacement. In addition, all of the "expert professionals" have GB taking a CB or an Edge Rusher. I was in the Edge Rusher camp, but with the addition of Wilkerson, GB will now have a serious inside pass rush. Perry and Matthews should see more "sac" production.

I now am in the draft a CB camp, and I like Iowa's Joshua Jackson. He has not gotten a lot of press, but he has earned my respect with his play. GB will regret it if they don't pick him.
