A VERY cool story. :salute:

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. The flag traveled around the world and through the deserts of Afghanistan and Iraq. Sgt. Felix Perez brought it from home as a reminder and an amulet. The flag never left his Army backpack.

It accompanied Perez to Dolphin Stadium on Tuesday night. He needed some luck for his team, the United States, in its must-win World Baseball Classic game against Puerto Rico. Perez wore a Team USA hat and a Team USA hoodie, and his little sister, Jessica, draped his flag across her shoulders. The United States 6-5 come-from-behind victory in the ninth inning sent them into a frenzy. She danced around. He sat in his motorized wheelchair and roared.

On the way out, the 27-year-old Perez placed the flag in his lap and leaned over to a security guard manning Gate G. He was hoping some players from Team USA might sign it. The security guard led Perez and his sister to the U.S. clubhouse, and the flag went inside.

The next thing I know, Perez said, Im getting called to come back in there.

And so began the coolest 30 minutes of Felix Perezs life....

That is a great story. The respect these guys show (and he deserves, obviously) is just amazing. Just hanging around their locker room for 30 mins. This is really one of those feel-good storys.

Oh, one thing I didn't like.

Very cool.. I wish there were more stories like this stemming from sports.. in the root of it all.. that is what sports are about.

It is simply karmic payback for your commentary in the movie thread. You said you didn't like Clint Eastwood westerns. That is the most profoundly UN-American view, to the point that you just BARELY got a forum waiver due to your nationality.

You could have easily said you dig on communism or militant Islamic fundamentalism with a reduced negative mo-jo.

Don't diss the Clint. This topic has been well covered, btw. Just ask z.

By the way, I'm totally kidding, but this afforded me the opportunity to semi-hijack the thread and put up some stone cold serious cowboys and indians stuff. (I think this will be my third time submitting this, lol)

I love me some Clint Eastwood.

My favorite Clint Eastwood line of all time:

From Bronco Billy:

Antoinette Lilly: Have you ever been married?
Bronco Billy McCoy: Sure. A long time ago.
Antoinette Lilly: Did you love her?
Bronco Billy McCoy: With all my heart. Sometimes that just isn't enough.
Antoinette Lilly: What happened?
Bronco Billy McCoy: I caught her in bed with my best friend.
Antoinette Lilly: What did you do to him?
Bronco Billy McCoy: I shot her.
Antoinette Lilly: What! What about him?
Bronco Billy McCoy: He was my best friend!
