In light of losing veteran Morgan Burnett to the Pittsburgh Steelers, several former players want the Green Bay Packers to sign free agent defensive back Eric Reid.
Jermichael Finley, LeRoy Butler and Gary Ellerson all urged the Packers to add Reid, a former Pro Bowler who – like Burnett – played several different positions for the San Francisco 49ers.

The downside to signing him, is that the Packers would have two talented SS/LB and the vet miget hold up Jones playing time... plus the whole stupid kneeling issue discussion.
But the upside is that they got two versional, physical DBs that can play coverage LB, SS or maybe some slot CB, especially if you're willing to blitz them off the edge. Also, while neither is a FS, signing Reid might make resigning Haha, a less of a need next year... though they will need a FS to replace.
Back to the negative, maybe Haha is a future SS too, and they're going to get a FS. So basically signing Reid might mean more about what to do with Haha, next year, but he might hold Jones back some this year, but help the team.

New Packers defensive coordinator Mike Pettine has always done a nice job using his safeties, especially when they're versatile. Reid finished off his 2017 campaign with the 49ers in style, showing the ability to line up at weakside linebacker and make an impact as a pass defender. Still only 26 years old after five productive seasons as a starter, Reid is the type of free-agent signing former general manager Ted Thompson rarely made.
