Everything being equal, few players want to come to GB.

If he's signing in GB it is because GB overpaid and/or he's trying to recreate his success with the Sons of Anarchy. With Clark becoming a little Snacks Harrison in '18 and Daniels, CM3 or Perry mimicking Sheldon Richardson's duel role of 5 tech DE/edge rusher, Wilkerson is hoping to cash in in 2019.

Green Bay being a small town for NFL standards doesn't have the impact it used to, either. You can go anywhere at any time with all the travel options available.

Even then, a big city is not a necessity for every single free agent on the market, like most seem to think.

And of course he's looking for the best situation for himself. He'll try to shine under Pettine and get one more big contract. That's a win for us, as well. Players on one year prove-it deals tend to give it their all. And if he's giving it his all, he's one of the best in the league. Giving him a $5 million base salary and $3 million based on incentives brings out the best in him, which is best for us.

Like teams like the '07 Giants have proven, a good pass rush can mask your problems in the secondary quite well. This signing will indirectly improve our back-end by quite a bit. More than re-signing the below average House would.

Because of the reticence to sign FA's over the last decade, we really don't know whether GB is a desired destination or not.
Regardless, having #12 with a defense gives us a well above average shot...and if I were a guy mid to late in my playing career, I would LOVE to play in Green Bay, all things being equal.
Also with increased horse power and with a greater level of depth at DL, we may make CM3 and Perry more effective.
Now lets
- Restructure CM3
- Restructure Cobb
- Sign/trade for a veteran CB or 2
- Tackle
- Cover
- Run slants, rubs, picks, and show some creativity on offense

There may be some confusion about the Green Bay as a destination thing though. Do people say that meaning no one wants to come here because they don't like Green Bay the city or do they not want to come here because they don't like Green Bay the organization?

As a city is Green Bay really that much worse than Buffalo or Cleveland or Cincinnati or any of the other smaller cities. I'm not saying those cities are bad just wondering if they are that much better.

As an organization, like you said, with Rodgers we are a contender and if any FA had a lick of confidence in his abilities I would think he would enjoy going to a contender where his actions could help push the team over the top.

I'll always love Green Bay, have family/friends still there, but players do not like living in a small town that's freezing 5 months of the year. Sure there are a small subset of players who grew up on farms in Iowa who don't mind it but that doesn't mean their wives/kids aren't bothering them to move too 😝

The Packers have Aaron F'in Rodgers, the types of players the Packers should be trying to attract are aging vets who still got enough juice left for one last title run or players who need short-term prove it deals to get money elsewhere.

Wilkerson is of the later he had his best days playing for our new defensive coordinator and after how things ended with the Jets he needs a bounce back year to get another big payday. If he goes elsewhere like Cook did and the packers get another 4th/5th round comp pick so be it. Worked out for everyone.

I like it better than Jimmy Graham. Just seems like Gute is trying to hard to be the Anti-Ted.

This contract is absolutely perfect. If his motivation problems continue we are only in for 1 year. If he returns to the form he was at a few years back with Pettine as his coach we are looking at a pretty impressive upgrade to the pass rush/pressure at an amazing contract value.

dfosterf (3h) : Nobody coming up with a keep, but at x amount
dfosterf (3h) : Trade, cut or keep
dfosterf (4h) : that from Jaire
dfosterf (4h) : My guess is the Packers floated the concept of a reworked contract via his agent and agent got a f'
Zero2Cool (4h) : Yes, and that is why I think Rob worded it how he did. Rather than say "agent"
dfosterf (4h) : Same laws apply. Agent must present such an offer to Jaire. Cannot accept or reject without presenting it
Zero2Cool (4h) : I'm thinking that is why Rob worded it how he did.
dfosterf (4h) : The Packers can certainly still make the offer to the agent
dfosterf (4h) : Laws of agency and definition of fiduciary responsibility
dfosterf (4h) : Jaire is open to a reduced contract without Jaire's permission
dfosterf (4h) : The agent would arguably violate the law if he were to tell the Packers
Zero2Cool (5h) : That someone ... likely the agent.
Zero2Cool (5h) : So, Jaire has not been offered nor rejected a pay reduction, but someone says he'd decline.
Zero2Cool (5h) : Demovksy says t was direct communication with someone familiar with Jaire’s line of thinking at that moment.
Zero2Cool (5h) : Demovsky just replied to me a bit ago. Jaire hasn't said it.
dfosterf (7h) : Of course, that depends on the definition of "we"
dfosterf (7h) : We have been told that they haven't because he wouldn't accept it. I submit we don't know that
dfosterf (7h) : What is the downside in making a calculated reduced offer to Jaire?
Zero2Cool (23h) : Packers are receiving interest in Jaire Alexander but a trade is not imminent
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Jalen Ramsey wants to be traded. He's never happy is he?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : two 1sts in 2022 and two 2nd's in 2023 and 2024
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers had fortunate last three drafts.
dfosterf (15-Apr) : I may have to move
dfosterf (15-Apr) : My wife just told the ancient Japanese sushi dude not enough rice under his fish
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I think a dozen is what I need
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Go fund me for this purpose just might work. A dozen nurses show up at 1265 to provide mental health assistance.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Maybe send a crew of Angels to the Packers draft room on draft day.
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I am the Angel that gets visited.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Visiting Angels has a pretty good reputation
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : what
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : WINNING IT, not someone else losing it. The best victory though was re-uniting with his wife
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : The manner in which he won it was just amazing and wonderful. First blowing the lead then getting back, then blowing it. But ultimately
Zero2Cool (12-Apr) : I'm guessing since the thumb was broken, he wasn't feeling it.
dfosterf (10-Apr) : Looking for guidance. Not feeling the thumb.
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : If they knew about it or not
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : I don't recall that he did which is why I asked.
Zero2Cool (10-Apr) : Guessing they probably knew. Did he have cast or something on?
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : Did they know that at the time or was that something the realized afterwards?
Zero2Cool (9-Apr) : Van Ness played most of season with broken thumb
wpr (9-Apr) : yay
Zero2Cool (9-Apr) : Mark Murphy says Steelers likely to protect Packers game. Meaning, no Ireland
Zero2Cool (8-Apr) : Struggling to figure out what text editor options are needed and which are 'nice to have'
Mucky Tundra (8-Apr) : *CHOMP CHOMP CHOMP*
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : WR who said he'd break Xavier Worthy 40 time...and ran slower than you
Mucky Tundra (2-Apr) : Who?
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : Texas’ WR Isaiah Bond is scheduled to visit the Bills, Browns, Chiefs, Falcons, Packers and Titans starting next week.
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : Spotting ball isn't changing, only measuring distance is, Which wasn't the issue.
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : The spotting of the ball IS the issue. Not the chain gang.
Mucky Tundra (2-Apr) : Will there be a tracker on the ball or something?
Zero2Cool (1-Apr) : uh oh
