Alex Van Pelt wasn't really let go, was he? I read that he chose to not re-sign with the Packers last year with an extension and thus let his contract expire.

I can't say I care for Aaron saying "really without consulting me" as if he needs to be consulted. I get it, you're one of the top five players in the league, but you are a PLAYER. You play. Coaches coach. GM's GM. Know your role.

I dont buy it. i think Arod us just posturing, defending his buddy, and beginning the negotiation.

I believe that if you asked him, out of the sight of media, whether, in totality, he was happy with ALL of the changes in the OVERALL coaching staff, HE WOULD BE THRILLED!!!

Many of us have worked with people that we have liked/disliked. Change is always a constant for a lot of us.

NFL teams evolve from season to season. Aaron Rodgers, like many others, can feel good/bad about his teams coaching changes. That does not mean that he will not work well with his new coaches.

Good... Rodgers and the backups need a coach, not a best friend

Aaron also leaked that rumor that we might have to release him die to putting him back on IR. Time to cut bait, he doesn’t want to be here.

Look at a guy like Messi. He calls all kinds of shots within the Barcelona organization, because if they don't respect his feelings, there's 20 teams who'd gladly take him.

It's a bit more complicated in the NFL, but Rodgers could walk away after the 2019 season as a 36 year old who'll get the most ridiculous NFL contract in free agency up to that point. I asume that's the way the Packers organization has been thinking about this for the last ten years now. I can imagine he's been consulted on quite a few moves on the offensive side throughout his career. Both so they keep him motivated (Unmotivated players are the worst kind you can have) and happy. This could be one of the few moves that go directly against his wishes, even if the Packers or the coaching staff couldn't really do anything about it.

Also, I find it hard to say something about a quote without hearing the speech and context behind it. The meaning behind a quote like this can be totally skewed when you see it isolated like this.

He'll get over it.

I understand Rodgers to be a bit obsessive compulsive you can see it when he talks about the importance of practice reps, he has a certain amount of habits/routine he stresses to give him that prep for Sunday and I think guys like Van Pelt were a big part of the process. He'll adapt and I think with Philbin coming back it'll be old hat soon enough.
