Call this a vent.. call this whatever.. but it struck me odd and actually pissed me off.
We all know about the Favre saga, the poor communication, and the divorce.
Now watching this Cutler thing unfold, with the phone tag back and forth, finally a face to face meeting and same results.. both sides coming out with opposing stories.. it seems so familiar.
How can it be, the seemingly reflective mess with two different franchises?
To me, it is pretty clear that last years events and this years face off in Denver have a very common thread, Bus Cook.
Why would he do this?
Simple.. if Bus gets his clients new deals, he gets a cut of that signing bonus and new deal figures.
Last year, if the Packers caved and let Brett walk, Bus would get a new mainlined IV'ed source of cash with a new signing bonus and contract.. in the end, we simply traded Favre so it kind of backfired.
However, this year, if Cutler gets dealt, he is surely going to get a new deal from a new team as part of the deal.
So while Bus might not be starting these issues, I certainly can see him helping push the issue along and create more trouble between the franchise and his client. He has self motivated reasons to do so..
I know it is maybe playing a little conspiracy theory here.. but the constant story of poor communication is just to blatant to ignore, IMO.
Some will say, when the Packers offered Brett his "Golden Parachute" of a marketing deal, how come Bus didn't stop and grab his coin. Honestly, I think that is what the whole meeting in Mississippi last season was all about with Murphy.. Bus trying to reverse the process and get Brett to accept. But the fire of emotion in Brett was too hot for that to happen at that point, and Cook spun the meeting as a buyout for the media.. adding more pressure to the saga..
Can me crazy.. call me Jerry Fletcher.. but I smell a rat in both of these issues.. and that rat is Bus Cook.
Bus Cook.. your no longer welcome at my supper table.
