Anyone ever hit a deer with a vehicle and then took the animal home and butchered it . It happened to me about 40 years ago . It was a small doe and it happened in the middle of the country about 3 am one Monday morning . I was on my way home from visiting relatives and the damage to my car was very slight.

Having no experience with butchering a wild animal , I was able to find someone to come to my aid . It was the Preacher from a local church who came to help but he also took the best cut home for himself (the Tenderloin ) . I've never forgotten that he took advantage of the situation . [confused]

Don't feel bad. The tenderloin on a small deer is VERY small. Not at all like a cow tenderloin. You could probably fit it on a submarine roll.
The steaks are the best part really. The most important thing with venison is to not over cook it! Medium rare is the most it should be cooked. Plus it doesn't reheat well, so only cook what you would eat at one meal.
About 30 years ago I hit a big buck. But it got up and ran off. I didn't find it. It hit Ice on the road, and was falling as I hit it. Only hit my bumper, no damage.

Good luck with your deer hunt Cheesey. I don't hunt, but my best friend has a tree stand on my property and has been quite successful over the years (I get a little cut of the meat which works for me). As we are close to traffic we are in a bow only zone (he uses a crossbow). The deer meat is excellent in our area. As there are corn fields and apple orchards around, the meat I find tastes less gamey than what most are used to when it comes to venison. Most people I know in my area have had a vehicle incident with a deer. We have been fortunate, but have had many near misses. My sister-in-law was not so lucky and had one do a real number on her car. She was lucky as it smashed in her windshield while she was going about 50 mph.

There are many people in my area against the hunting of deer because they are so beautiful. The population has been out of control for many years and the number of vehicle accidents is crazy. We also have a large coyote population which has gone up because they have lots of deer to prey on who are weakened due to limited food supply in the winter months. These same idiots are now complaining that people are taking out the coyotes. Coyotes that have become brazen and has attacked people and killed family dogs and cats.

When a deer hunting thread wanders off into religious and politic topics it has run it's course and it's time to close it down.
