What is bullying today? Seems like everything today is considered bullying. I moved schools between 3rd and 4th grade, from catholic school to public. I was a tiny kid and my parents didn't have much money so I never had good new clothes or things growing up so I was picked on and teased all the time. I learned how to stand up for myself and how to interact with those who were "different" than me. Today it seems like every "negative" interaction between kids is called bullying, when most of it is just kids growing and developing into teenagers, then young adults and adults. When they grow up, not everybody is going to like them or get along with them, it is important for our youth to develop the skills to be able to deal with those who don't.

That is one of the reasons ex-military seem to be better able to deal with others. We get thrown together with a couple hundred people from different ethnic backgrounds, different parts of not only the country but world. And we have to learn to deal and get along. It is an important skill to learn.

While we want to make sure those normal interactions do not develop into bullying, we also don't want to remove that interaction and hamper the growth of our youth. Fights are not always bad, teasing and picking on each other is not always bad. Our kids need those interactions to develop into well rounded adults and have the skills needed to deal with people in the real world.
The world needs ditch diggers too Danny!!!

Saturday at swim class they handed out report cards. I heard a parent behind me say "they didn't put him to the next level? Oh, i will be talking to the swim coach about this!" ... it took every ounce of fiber in my body not to turn around and ask them what THEY did to ensure their child proceeded to the next level.

I am so sick and tired of people thinking they are entitled to things. Anything. Especially old people who think because they are OLD they are entitled to RESPECT. Fuck you. You want respect? You earn it. You don't earn respect because your parents fucked before mine.

Sorry, got off tangent. Umm, bullying is bad.

"Participation trophies".....that's what we have lowered expectations to. Just show up, and you get an award. Too bad the Packers defense can't show up.😝

I was bullied.....books knocked out of my hands in the hallway, kicked, punched, one time had a chunk of ice thrown at (and hitting) the back of my head. Almost knocked me out.
Name calling was the least of my worries.

I absolutely hate what the term "bullying" has become. It really serves no purpose.

Is a kid being a colossal doughebag to you? Call it what it is - You're an angry person taking out your problems on other people.
Is a kid slamming you into lockers, sending you threatening messages, kicking you in the balls in the hall, etc? Call it what it is - a crime.

I was bullied relentlessly throughout middle and high school and it made life a living hell. Some of it I deserved, the vast majority of it I didn't. But at the end of the day, I'm borderline insulted when people refer to assault, stalking, etc as bullying.

Back in the 60's when I was in Elementary School , our class bully who had already failed one grade , liked to pick me out to fight with at recess . We would both get in trouble and have letters sent home for our parents to sign . Now at that age a little boy (me) is just not qualified to explain what really occurred and I would end up being severely whipped with my Dad's thinnest belt . The welts healed , but the mental scars never really did .

Wow...guess I was not alone. I didn't get abused at home though. In fact, I had loving parents. I didn't tell them what I was going through. I felt helpless. I was small and weak. I hated school.
The only time I spoke up was when one kid was bullying me in 6th grade. He told me he was going to beat me up after school the next day. I broke down and told my parents. The next day, the kid (Scott) was waiting for me. A crowd already had formed. Scott came up to me, ready to attack. He felt a tap on his shoulder, he turned and there was my 17 year old brother who said "that's my little brother. Whatever you do to him, I'm going to do to you." With that, Scott ran away. He never bothered me again.
That's the only time my brother ever stood up for me.

You were not alone Cheesey. Nearly everyone got picked on. Only the kids who matured fastest and were bigger avoided the wrath of classmates but they in turn were often targets for older kids. What makes it so bad is, like the commercial illustrates most people, most classmates, stand around and do nothing or worse yet, side with the bully so they will be left alone. I loved how the woman defused the situation without resorting to aggression herself. Not many people can do that.

dfosterf (25-Jun) : of the folks that run this team. I do not recall Mark Murphy being subject to our vote.
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Ed Policy yay or nay is on the pre-approved ballot that we always approve because we are uninformed and lazy, along with all the rest
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Weird question. Very esoteric. For stockholders. Also lengthy. Sorry. Offseason.
Zero2Cool (25-Jun) : Maybe wicked wind chill made it worse?
Mucky Tundra (25-Jun) : And then he signs with Cleveland in the offseason
Mucky Tundra (25-Jun) : @SharpFootball WR Diontae Johnson just admitted he refused to enter a game in 41° weather last year in Baltimore because he felt “ice cold”
