I'm not suggesting to do it... but with the NY review system in place... IF it's successful.... they could someday add in NY ejection reviews... for bad hits... while the refs on the field are trying to break everything up ... NY could be reviewing the hit, to decide if they want said player ejected or not.
Like you said, it's a slippery slope, but having NFL NY headquarters do it, instead of the refs on the field might make a lot more sense and timely. Of course they might need a bit of a large NY ref crew for that, but NFL could easily do it... IF they can get all the video and communication and everything else secure that they're already attempting to do.
