When referee John Hussey was asked why Bears linebacker Danny Trevathan was not ejected for using the crown of his helmet to hit Packers wide receiver Davante Adams in the helmet when Adams' forward progress had been stopped, Hussey said that he "didn’t have enough information' from his perspective to judge if the hit was [more]

College bb allows refs to watch replays and correct a call. Let's let NFL MLB officials have the same luxury.
They would have changed a few calls last night and the pick 6/ penalty Aaron threw against Seattle.

Ref just trying to make an excuse as to why he didn't eject the clown.
If he can't "see" a play that blatant, maybe he should be suspended too.

You don't want them reviewing every play especially penalties. But what I think WOULD work is, any play where ejection is considered is reviewed. You want to be sure you're not removing someone from the game unless they deserve it. It'd also give them a chance to take a second look in situations like this too.

I mean, how often do these circumstances come up? Really isn't going to slow the game down, and seems like a win-win.

Remember when Greg Brady was shit talking the Packers before we played them? He was a LB for Minnesota, iirc. Holmgren told William Henderson before the opening kickoff, "No matter what happens, hit Brady!" Brady came out of the pile looking through his ear hole.

Not saying they should put bounties up, but to allow someone to do this to one of your guys sends a message to all the dirty players out there. It tells the, they can take shots at your guys and get away with it.

I don't think any of the officials really saw the hit. The way the flag was thrown and the penalty was called, it seemed to be one where they knew something happened but not sure what exactly so they just made a call that sounded good.

wonder if they could redesign the helmet to remove the top so all it protects front back and sides. Players would quit spearing if they didn't have the helmet protection on the top.
The world needs ditch diggers too Danny!!!

For guys that are repeat offenders, I completely agree... guys like Bengals LB Vontaze Burfict, S Brandon Meriweather should get suspensions like that... or suspensions like 6 games after said injured players plays his next game, or maximum of a year or something.

But for a first offender or a potential accident? I'm not sure.

It's hard to give him the benefit of the doubt. Crown of his helmet hit Adams square in the face. Watch the replay, Jordy IMMEDIATELY signals the sidelines.

I've always been puzzled at how football, despite it's "collision" nature lacks the enforcers/goons found in hockey/basketball. Hell, even baseball has serious codes regarding bean balls and conduct. I always found it odd that say, Warren Sapp, never had an o-lineman dive at his knees.

Frankly I'm glad we don't have a league where cheap shots are normalized and things turn into a viscous cycle of players intentionally injuring eachother. Grow up.

A viscous circle sounds kind of gross. Like a bunch of sweaty guys scraping the foam off each other's backs or something like that. I'm also glad we don't have that in this league.
