I can't remember the exact numbers but in playoffs losses something like 36 points given up is hard to defend.

By standard statistical measures, the defense of the Green Bay Packers had its struggles last year. Green Bay finished 22nd in overall defense, 21st in points allowed and were 31st against the pass as injuries to the secondary led to opponents finding room to move the football. The Packers did finish as the eighth best...

Sure they were 8th in rushing yards given up. But they were 6th in opponents rushing attempts. 14th in yards per attempt.

That 8th rank is a result of having one of the worst pass defenses, and an offense that ranked 4th in Time of possession.

You are not going to give up many rushing yards when you offense holds onto the ball longer and opponents can through against you.

If I was going to look for a defensive stat to hang my hat on it would be that they ranked 5th in the percentage of opponents possessions that ended up scoring.
The world needs ditch diggers too Danny!!!

To me, their defensive performance was OFFENSIVE.

Had they had a decent defense, we could have at least looked respectable in the NFC title game. As it was, we were destroyed on that side of the ball.
Look at many of our other games during the season, where our offense shined, got a lead, and then barely hung on because of the defense messing up. The Dallas playoff game is a perfect example of that. We almost lost because of the defense not being able to stop Dallas.
Without a super offense, we would have lost that game.
We NEED a defense that can keep us in games when the offense isn't "super".

As a leader on GB's Defense , I can understand Mike Daniels standing up for his comrades . Also , he may be the type that sees the glass as half full . For him to speak ill of his team would be hurtful and he could not do that .

In this case I'm sure he was sincere and meant just what he said . [cool]

I agree.....he's NOT going to say "We SUCKED!"
However, I would HOPE that behind closed doors he would get on his guys to perform better.
Otherwise he has his head in the sand, ignoring the obvious.

Honest, with the Packers keeping Guion after his last suspension trouble, I have wondered if maybe they wanted Guion around because maybe he's the one that best handles an upset Daniels... fyi, this is complete and total speculation on my part... but listening to other stories on NFL Network, about past players, it sounds like coaches often use position mates to help steer players that are hard to handle. And there have been some comments about Daniels pissing off some of his defensive teammates after losses.

I figured Guion had to be good for the locker room if they kept him around after his latest suspension... if they keep him still after this Hawaii arrest then they must REALLY like in the locke room for some reason.

Well I believe if he's suspended for the year by the league the Packers will not owe him anything until he returns from that. So while I think he no longer really has a place on this team they have no rush to release him besides the bad press, if it infact has an overall morale boost all the better.
