Linebacker A.J. Hawk participated in individual drills during the portion of practice open to the media this morning inside The Don Hutson Center.

Hawk was wearing shoulder pads and his helmet for the first time since he strained a muscle in his chest in the exhibition opener on Aug. 11, but his participation appeared to be limited. As usual, the media was not allowed to watch team drills.

Meanwhile, cornerback Charles Woodson, who was not on Wednesday's injury report, did not practice. Woodson missed time late in training camp with a knee bruise, but he had practiced on Monday and Tuesday.

Also out were: left tackle Chad Clifton (knees/chest), center Scott Wells (back) and receiver James Jones (knee).

Returning to practice were: running back Ryan Grant (hamstring), end Jeremy Thompson (groin), linebacker Tracy White (ankle), end Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila (knee) and safety Charlie Peprah (hamstring).

* In a conference call with Wisconsin reporters, Vikings coach Brad Childress declined to discuss the health of quarterback Tarvaris Jackson. Childress had joked earlier in the week Jackson, who has a knee injury, looked like he had a wooden leg. "He looks like he's got a prosthetic now," Childress said.

Ahhh... so I hear by challenge the mighty TJ to a one legged duel.

Good to see Hawk back in limited action.. I have a feeling he is going to green light it for Monday night.

Hopefully Hawk can play. Of course this might just be a ploy to make the Vikings THINK he will be playing.

I hope Hawk can play also. What is the deal with Grant has he practiced more than five days this camp?

They're just being safe with grant. They've said this about 100 times. They're keeping him fresh for the opener, and trying to avoid injuring they're new highly paid franchise back. 🙂

I wonder how 93z performs in an ass-kicking contest?
If, as I suspect, he holds his own, let's fund him for his trip amongst the Purple-priders. Now THAT would crush any bets with those "gentlemen", as regards the changing of sigs, etc. dependent upon a Pack vs. Vikes win.

Hmm...is Woodson's just a one day deal? Seems odd that he is just out, maybe just resting up.

Hawk NEEDS to play. I really hope he does.

Yea, we really need Hawk for this first game to combat AP's running ability.

I'd bet a lot of money on Hawk playing in this game.

LOL> Of course they are. He'll be fresh alright. Considering he didn't attend training camp, missed every preseason game, and has been to about five or six practices total... you bet he'll be fresh. And rusty. 😉
"There's the snap, Rodgers with a quick drop - in trouble! AND SACKED BY ALLEN! The ball is lose, the ball is lose, and recovered by Kevin Williams! And that's the ball game! Childress and the Vikings FINALLY beat the Packers!"
