Green Bay's 2017 Training Camp will , as usual, be a competition not only to make the 53 man roster, but to move into the starting slot for some positions.

One of the spotlight battles will be at the Cornerback position . Kevin King may just earn a starting CB position vs the returning veterans . Increasing the quality in the GB secondary could also put more pressure on the WR competition as well .

The LB battle may be most interesting as well. Clay's not going anywhere. People are just understandably frustrated with him.

The RB battle will also be one that many will be watching . Montgomery should emerge as the prime starter , and Ripcowski should also retain his FB spot , but the remaining "keepers" will put on a show to earn a roster spot.

The TE positions seem to be filled and it may influence the look of the 2017 Packers and the LB battles in TC .

IMO , GB will field a better team than the 2016 version if the new Defense steps up their play in 2017 . [cool]

The top 4 CB positions should be a fun battle. All 4 are potentially at the same level, it remains to be seen if that is good thing. It will also be interesting to see how much playing time Josh Jones and Brice earn over the other Cbs/safets. The battle at RG is hard to predict. All LB position battles will be tough. Where will Clay line up? How much playing time will J Elliot get now that he isn't buried? How will the RB battle play out? Will it even matter since Mike McCarthy hates running the ball? I feel like this year has many more questions than any year recently. Many positions up in the air right now, normally it feels like more all already set.

I'm interested to see what happens with Josh Jones. Does he compete and take time away at ILB. Do we sacrifice a little in size at the position to gain in the speed and coverage ability.

WR could be a bigger battle than people realize.

Jordy and Cobb could very well be done. I know Cobb is young, but he lost that short area change of direction that made him special. Martellus Bennet and Lance Kendricks will draw coverage away to help him get open, but then again, they could also be doing that for someone who can legit get separation.

Davante? Let's see if he can prove it by doing it two years in a row. Will Trevor Davis take that step, or is he the latest in a long line of scrubs who could have been who never were? Because that dude could have lightning in a bottle, if the light goes on.

And btw, if any of these guys stumble, I think Yancey could make a serious move to contend for some action.

Don't see much hope for WR Davis, but he could always prove me wrong. I think Janis is safe because he is such a great special teams player. That boy can sure run in a straight line!

Anyway, I'm not feeling that much excitement about the rookies right now. My attention is actually on a lot of the 2nd year players and looking for "the jump" as they call it. Is it pre-season yet!?

Also, reportedly his leadership and football acumen is off the charts. This means he will contribute in 2017; but it is important they do not overload this guy. As a pure safety at the moment he's probably behind Dix, Burnett, Brice and Evans. I don't see him breaking into the rotation until very late in the year and most likely not until 2018.

I'm thinking Jones can master and be a "starter" as part of a 3rd and long Quarters package, which will mostly play cover 3. 2 of House, Gunter and King with Dix in the middle will play the umbrella with Randall, Rollins, Jones and Burnett in hook zone. Jones and Burnett would be lined up as ILBs.

The secondary is up in the air because there are so many new pieces Capers has to work with. The only question about Randall is, "is he made of glass?" If healthy he's is extremely capable and unquestionable borderline elite starter. CM3 and Perry are quality OLBs with some moving around in gimmick fashion. Elliot and Fackrell's job is to keep them fresh for playoffs. Not sure about Elliot, think he can give 3-400 serviceable snaps w/ solid ST play. If Fackrell is sufficiently bulked he will be healthy and will be one of the most productive pass rushers per snap in NFL in his 3-500 snaps. I think signing RJF and drafting Adams is the end for Guion, only injuries can save him.

Jahari is the starter based on his play in 2016 and he's is smart, so he'll get it. He's also a great leader and lockerroom guy for the youngsters. Unless his age zaps him, he's the starter, he wont be dominant, but he wont hurt you either.

There is so much elite depth at WR, TE and RB [by mid season], injuries just mean one quality package will get more play over another. Rodgers knows there will be only him to blame if the O is not spectacular. This and Marcellcus in his grill should keep Rodgers' mind focused on playing with precision and within the offense.

Martha Careful (16h) : thank you Mucky for sticking up for me
Martha Careful (16h) : some of those people are smarter than you zero. However Pete Carroll is not
Mucky Tundra (19h) : Rude!
beast (20h) : Martha? 😋
Zero2Cool (24-Jan) : Raiders hired someone from the elderly home.
dfosterf (24-Jan) : I'm going with a combination of the two.
beast (24-Jan) : Either the Cowboys have no idea what they're doing, or they're targeting their former OC, currently the Eagles OC
Zero2Cool (23-Jan) : Fake news. Cowboys say no
Zero2Cool (23-Jan) : Mystery candidate in the Cowboys head coaching search believed to be Packers ST Coordinator Rich Bisaccia.
beast (23-Jan) : Also why do both NYC teams have absolutely horrible OL for over a decade?
beast (23-Jan) : I wonder why the Jets always hire defensive coaches to be head coach
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Still HC positions available out there. I wonder if Hafley pops up for one
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Trent Baalke is out as the Jaguars GM.
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Jeff Hafley would have been a better choice, fortunately they don't know that. Someone will figure that out next off season
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Aaron Glenn Planning To Take Jets HC Job
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Martha- C'est mon boulot! 😁
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Thank you
wpr (22-Jan) : Z, glad you are feeling better.
wpr (22-Jan) : My son and D-I-L work for UM. It's a way to pick on them.
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Thank you. I rarely get sick, and even more rarely sick to the point I can't work.
wpr (22-Jan) : Beast- back to yesterday, I CAN say OSU your have been Michigan IF the odds of making the playoffs were more urgent.
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Glad to hear you are feeling a bit better.
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : I've been near death ill last several days, finally feel less dead and site issues.
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : It is a big deal. This host is having issues. It's frustrating.
Martha Careful (22-Jan) : just kidding...it was down
Martha Careful (22-Jan) : you were blocked yesterday, due to a a recalcitrant demeanor yesterday in the penalty box for a recalcitrant demeanor
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Was that site shutdown on your end or mine? No big deal, just curious
beast (21-Jan) : That way teams like Indiana and SMU don't make the conference championships by simply avoiding all the other good teams in their own confere
beast (21-Jan) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.
beast (21-Jan) : You can't assume Ohio State would of won the Michigan game...
beast (21-Jan) : Rankings were 1) Oregon 2) Georgia 3) Texas 4) Penn State 5) Notre Dame 6) Ohio State, none of the rest mattered
wpr (21-Jan) : Texas, ND and OSU would have been fighting for the final 2 slots.
wpr (21-Jan) : Oregon and Georgia were locks. Without the luxury of extra playoff berths, Ohios St would have been more focused on Michigan game.
wpr (21-Jan) : Zero, no. If there were only 4 teams Ohio State would have been one of them. Boise St and ASU would not have been selected.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : So that was 7 vs 8, that means in BCS they never would made it?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : A great game. Give ND credit for coming back, although I am please with the outcome.
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : FG to make it academic
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : and there's the dagger
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooo 8 point game with 4 minutes to go!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooooooohhhhhh he missed!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Ooooo that completion makes things VERY interesting
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Game not over yet
beast (21-Jan) : Oh yeah, Georgia starting quarterback season ending elbow injury
beast (21-Jan) : Sadly something happened to Georgia... they should be playing in this game against Ohio State
beast (21-Jan) : I thought Ohio State and Texas were both better than Notre Dame & Penn State
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame getting rolled
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : Ohio State just got punched in the gut. Lets see how they respond
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame vs the Luckeyes, bleh
