I can not tell you how much fun it is to get a call at 12:37 am informing me that my car was hit by a drunk who left the scene.

While the Pfister Hotel manager was extremely helpful including calling me to let me know what happened, Milwaukee's finest were not very helpful.

When I called them to report the accident I was told to stop by any precinct and pick up a copy of the report. $10 two cab rides and more than an hour later I learned that the report can only be obtained from the Wisconsin DMV website which happens to be down for maintenance.

The bumper is in the back seat. I am going back to bed and let my insurance deal with all the bureaucratic red tape.

wpr , that is just terrible . You are however lucky it was not worse. Were there any video cameras or wittiness' to the crime . Best of luck with your insurance co. , in Va you can choose the shop that does the repairs. They may steer you to a low-ball repair shop that does not use 1st quality repair parts. In addition, write down your mileage when the repair shop takes delivery of your car , I've heard of some strange things going down with peoples cars. Also, be sure to take lots of pictures for your safety . Last be sure to clean out the car of everything you can before you have it repaired, everyone is not honest you know .

Oh yea, get everything in writing, don't just take someone's word .

GOOD LUCK !

Thanks Smokey for your concern.
There is video that the hotel is willing to turn over. They would give it to the police but they don't care.

As for the insurance company and body shop, I am an independent insurance agent. The ins co won the Powers Award 3 yrs in a row for consumer satisfaction on auto claims.

The body shop wants me to refer my clients to them which I (my agency and I) have done more than a thousand times in the past 15-20 years.

I don't keep valuables in my car. The body shop records the milage on the estimate. Unscrupulous shops tend to be found in larger metro areas not in towns of 4000. Too many chances to run into the body shop owner at church, school, grocery store and other community events. Also we insure the police chief and I am on the county board. Inside my little community I am wired.

Jesus, glad no one was in your car at the time. Hopefully it gets sorted out sooner than later.

On our way out of the garage I was talking with the cashier. While talking about the the accident I said the worst part was that I had to pay for the privilege. She said that the police had been to the hotel 3 times today trying to come up with the license plate number.

wpr, are you being provided with a loaner / rental car until your car is to be fully repaired ?

If so, what car have you been supplied with ?

dfosterf (25-Jun) : of the folks that run this team. I do not recall Mark Murphy being subject to our vote.
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Ed Policy yay or nay is on the pre-approved ballot that we always approve because we are uninformed and lazy, along with all the rest
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Weird question. Very esoteric. For stockholders. Also lengthy. Sorry. Offseason.
Zero2Cool (25-Jun) : Maybe wicked wind chill made it worse?
Mucky Tundra (25-Jun) : And then he signs with Cleveland in the offseason
