I don't see enough players worth signing that would eat up much of the cap space we have left. I think the best option is to use it this year to lock up some of our important pieces that will be up for contract next year. We are going to be facing Linsley, Taylor, Dix, Burnett, Adams all needing contracts. Plus we will also be facing 30million in cap between Rodgers and Clay.

With around 20 million after Rookies are signed. I look around midseason to lock up Dix and Linsley and maybe Adams. Use 10-15 million as guaranteed money for htem this year, combined with smaller signing bonuses so their contracts are far more cap friendly 2018 and on.
The world needs ditch diggers too Danny!!!

Well right now the Packers only have 3 defensive linemen to fill a 6 man rotation and no elephant OLB with both Peppers and Jones gone. There's still a few FA moves to be made.

Sucks datone went to Minnesota. He's a good fit in that defense

Ouch...losing Jones hurt and as Steve said it might be a double whammy.

There is no way GB didn't offer 1 x 3.75M. Jones wanted out!

And that's another 7th round comp pick!

My feeling is that at this point in time our defense is worse than it was when the Packers walked off the field after being slaughtered by the Falcons in the NFCCG.
Hopefully that will change before the 2017 opener.
My faith, however, is lagging.

That doesn't excuse the defense. You are right, they need improvements big time.

I figured the Packers were going to need to reload somewhat after this season. Weren't going to be able to keep everyone. I think as Ted Thompson proved letting Sitton go and inserting Lang, he was able to successfully fill the Guard spot without over-paying. Lang was pretty good, but injuries and money came in there. I could definitely see maybe moving Bulaga to Guard and seeing if Spriggs could take over RT.

Defense is still the biggest question mark and Ted Thompson is definitely going to have some holes to fill via the draft. Hyde played very well last year and got paid by Buffalo. Didn't think we'd bring Peppers back, but not surprised someone took a flyer on him if he wanted to play for another year. I didn't think the Nick Perry deal was completely out of whack compared to what other guys got on the market this year for comparable production. He just needs to stay healthy and they needed to keep some depth there. And House wasn't too expensive and at least knows the defense. The CB competition is pretty much gonna be wide open at this point come training camp. Dix and Burnett are probably the only defacto starters in the backfield right now.
