Been watching WR prospects on YouTube. Watched this Cooper Kupp kid running wild. I watched Zay Jones earlier. BTW, hard not thinking the next Jordy watching Kupp. Perhaps, it's white bias speaking but how can you not think of him when watching the Kupp kid?

It struck me watching these guys that our guys who used to be known for YAC aren't anymore. What happened?

Would love to see it return to our offense. I'm guessing it went away because we aren't as much of a pick your poison attack as we used to be. Significant talent dropoff over the last few years. Hoping we get a WR up high to see Big 5 get back to its former success.

Simple answer: No more slants means much less YAC.

When AR hits the receiver in stride they can get YAC. When his throws are off line and they have to reach back, go to the ground or leap to make the catch the defense has time to react. That is not 100% of the reason. They do more back shoulder throws/catches these days than they did 5 years ago. Very little YAC when the WR is heading back toward the LOS.

YAC doesn't come from catching hail mary passes or 40 yard TDs. Especially when you're throwing deep on a sandlot play.

Plus, Jordy can't run anymore.

YAC comes from more than just slants. We like to sling it outside quick right along the LOS and let our guys run with it. Nobody is any good at it. Jennings used to be good at it.

We need a weapon like Harvin once was for Minnesota who could break one every time he touched it. Our guys are lucky to get a few yards when we do it now.

McCaffrey would be so much fun to have and could fix our YAC issues. Him or LeVeon Bell. 🙂

Change in offensive philosophy from McCarthy, or McCarthy/Rodgers both.

You get YAC mainly from in breaking routes, or deep routes where WR gets behind the defense.

Our offense has morphed into sideline routes and broken plays.
The world needs ditch diggers too Danny!!!

Rodgers thinks he can make any throw down the field & McCarthy plays are so predicatable so the defensive squad is aware when we're going to pass or run.

YAC is what got us to win the SB.
