ESPN's Kevin Seifert had a blog up:

They say you can adequately judge a draft three or four years later.

By that standard, the collective NFC North didn't fare too well way back in '05.

In 2005, Black and Blue teams drafted a total of 30 players.

Only four remain part of their original team's rosters.

Can you name them?

(No link, because in the comments came the answer)

Here is the "answer" link:

All Packers: Rodgers, Collins, Poppinga and Michael Montgomery?

If Michael Montgomery re-signs, there will be a 5th player from the NFC North 2005 still with their original team.

Trying to judge a draft right after is impossible, or at the very least futile. Here are their 2008 grades of the 2005 draft:

Chicago Bears: C
Minnesota Vikings: Z- ( )
Detroit Lions: F
Green Bay Packers: B-

I also think it's safe to say Rodgers and Collins improved their "grade" in 2008, since this article was updated.

I know the answer, but I also read the blog awhile ago so I won't spoil it for someone trying for real.

That draft is a clear A for Green Bay in my opinion.

Any time you get a franchise quarterback you should get at least a B because franchise quarterbacks are tough to find.

Rodgers by all accounts is a franchise quarterback at least at the moment.

Adding a stater in Brady Poppinga and a Pro Bowl safety in Nick Collins is the icing on the cake so Kevin Seifert whom is clearly bias a bit towards the Vikings can call the draft class poor, but not for the Packers.

Orton came out in 05 didn't he... so Rodgers, Collins, Poppinga and Orton?

Are you sure there is not more... seems awful light..

Let's just review the 1st round of that draft in comparison to our NFC North rivals:

The Chicago Bears had the 4th pick in the draft- GONE

The Minnesota Vikings had the 7th pick in the draft- GONE

The Detroit Lions had the 10th pick in the draft- GONE

The Minnesota Vikings had the 18th pick in the draft- GONE

We picked Aaron Rodgers 24th, a pick that even 3 years later Walerfootball only begrudgingly acknowledges wasn't completely insane, along with a lukewarm endorsement of a safety that would go on in that same year to the friggin' pro bowl.

If they re-graded the draft right now I bet we would get an A-

Im still stuck on Porky's comment. How can you call a qb a franchise qb when they started for 1 year? Wouldn't that make Cassell a franchise qb, or Flacco, hell even JP Losman would be a franchise qb. He may become a franchise qb but i won't call him that after one year thats just plain ridiculous.

Also you guys rate the drafts from the starters we get, well hell when you don't have any decent players for those spots, doesn't that mean someone has to start?
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

DH, a franchise q/b in my mind is one that you can build your team around..

I also think that is how Porky views it and many other people too
