...is open for 3 more years. He listed 7 teams who had the biggest SB windows. The Packers checked in at #6 with the Raiders and Cowboys topping the list. It is amazing what Reggie McKenzie has done out in Oakland in a short time.

6) Green Bay Packers
The window will be open for: Three years.

There are key free agents (T.J. Lang, Nick Perry, Jared Cook, Micah Hyde) to retain, and the running game must become a complementary force once again. (Inking tackle David Bakhtiari to an extension in September was critical.) But as long as Aaron Rodgers is performing at a high level, the Packers' window will remain open. One man can't always drive a team, as we saw in Green Bay's lackluster start to the 2016 season. But when Rodgers is on, he can be impossible to stop, as we saw in his blistering run to the NFC title game.

I love it, Gil. One man can't always drive a team...but...he can in the case of Aaron Rodgers when he's hot. As he goes, we go. Simplest thing in the world.

Three years...I don't know? I think two years is a better guesstimate.

Saying the Cowboys window is only one year larger than the Packers you lose all credit. They have a rookie QB who looks like a stud. A great OL. A RB who looks like he's going to be top 5 in yards for the next half decade. All they need is to improve their defense. Pisses me off to say it, but Cowboys window is much wider than Packers.

I think Gil should be faced with a felony arrest for writing this over the 6 journalists that covered the inauguration protests.

There are only a handful of contracts over 4 years in he NFL. Effectively about 1/4 of each roster is restructured each year, either through players leaving [via free agency, cuts, retirement, etc] or good first year players making 500K/yr last year are now making 5-8-10-15-20 Million, thus causing other guys to be cut. This is why no teams consistently make playoffs. Well, except for 2 teams [GB and NE]. After 2 years, half of all NFL teams change, speaking of the length of "windows" is ridiculous.

Dallas has a bigger window?...Balderdash! With their top 53 players, Dallas is 6.8M OVER the cap. They'll need about 2M to sign their rookie class; they need to start the year with at least 3 million so right now they are effectively 12M over the cap!!!! Trading/Cutting Romo will save 5.1M. But they have 6 starters and 6 key backups as UFAs, so what they gonna do? And in 2 years they'll probably extend their real cheap good guys like Prescott and Elliot [if still viable] causing some of the OL or DL or someone is going to be cut or not resigned. And last year they had only 2 injuries [Romo and Collins]. If they have an average number of injuries Dallas won't even make playoffs next year.

Pack Fan With Twins wisely spoke of living through the 70's[and 80's] gives one appreciation for 8 straight playoff seasons and a SB win. But, all you youngsters need to do is educate yourselves at how the 30 other teams do to gain appreciation instead of a misplaced disgust for a final 4 finish, it is just weird. What did Gil say Denver's and Carolina's windows were at this time last year???? 30 teams in NFL occasionally catch lightning; only 2 actually build for success and succeed [KC and Oak might join this elite club if Dorsey and Mackenzie keep their inner Ted strong].

We know it's the 70s or 80s minus Rodgers. NE can go 3-1 with Garropolo and Brissett and went 11-5 with Matt freaking Cassell. We can't. Our window is 12's window. That window is very dirty and dusty. Needs more than a bottle of Windex to get it cleaned up.

We've had a 25 year window that is nearing its end.

One will look back celebrating the division titles and playoff wins.

One will lament 3 SB appearances in 30 years knowing full well that over the next 30 years there's likely to be zero regretting we failed to take full advantage of our 30 year run.

All predicated on the "We can't win a SB without Aaron Rodgers" theory.

4 years is generous.

Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : sounds like Packers don't get good compensation, Jaire staying
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Nobody coming up with a keep, but at x amount
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Trade, cut or keep
dfosterf (16-Apr) : that from Jaire
dfosterf (16-Apr) : My guess is the Packers floated the concept of a reworked contract via his agent and agent got a f'
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Yes, and that is why I think Rob worded it how he did. Rather than say "agent"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Same laws apply. Agent must present such an offer to Jaire. Cannot accept or reject without presenting it
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : I'm thinking that is why Rob worded it how he did.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The Packers can certainly still make the offer to the agent
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Laws of agency and definition of fiduciary responsibility
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Jaire is open to a reduced contract without Jaire's permission
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The agent would arguably violate the law if he were to tell the Packers
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : That someone ... likely the agent.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : So, Jaire has not been offered nor rejected a pay reduction, but someone says he'd decline.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovksy says t was direct communication with someone familiar with Jaire’s line of thinking at that moment.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovsky just replied to me a bit ago. Jaire hasn't said it.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Of course, that depends on the definition of "we"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : We have been told that they haven't because he wouldn't accept it. I submit we don't know that
dfosterf (16-Apr) : What is the downside in making a calculated reduced offer to Jaire?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers are receiving interest in Jaire Alexander but a trade is not imminent
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Jalen Ramsey wants to be traded. He's never happy is he?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : two 1sts in 2022 and two 2nd's in 2023 and 2024
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers had fortunate last three drafts.
dfosterf (15-Apr) : I may have to move
dfosterf (15-Apr) : My wife just told the ancient Japanese sushi dude not enough rice under his fish
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I think a dozen is what I need
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Go fund me for this purpose just might work. A dozen nurses show up at 1265 to provide mental health assistance.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Maybe send a crew of Angels to the Packers draft room on draft day.
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I am the Angel that gets visited.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Visiting Angels has a pretty good reputation
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : what
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : WINNING IT, not someone else losing it. The best victory though was re-uniting with his wife
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : The manner in which he won it was just amazing and wonderful. First blowing the lead then getting back, then blowing it. But ultimately
Zero2Cool (12-Apr) : I'm guessing since the thumb was broken, he wasn't feeling it.
dfosterf (10-Apr) : Looking for guidance. Not feeling the thumb.
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : If they knew about it or not
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : I don't recall that he did which is why I asked.
Zero2Cool (10-Apr) : Guessing they probably knew. Did he have cast or something on?
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : Did they know that at the time or was that something the realized afterwards?
Zero2Cool (9-Apr) : Van Ness played most of season with broken thumb
wpr (9-Apr) : yay
Zero2Cool (9-Apr) : Mark Murphy says Steelers likely to protect Packers game. Meaning, no Ireland
Zero2Cool (8-Apr) : Struggling to figure out what text editor options are needed and which are 'nice to have'
Mucky Tundra (8-Apr) : *CHOMP CHOMP CHOMP*
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : WR who said he'd break Xavier Worthy 40 time...and ran slower than you
Mucky Tundra (2-Apr) : Who?
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : Texas’ WR Isaiah Bond is scheduled to visit the Bills, Browns, Chiefs, Falcons, Packers and Titans starting next week.
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : Spotting ball isn't changing, only measuring distance is, Which wasn't the issue.
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : The spotting of the ball IS the issue. Not the chain gang.
