John Dorsey or Eliot Wolf?

The Packers are going to keep at least one of their top personnel lieutenants, but the future of their General Manager job could be decided from outside the organization.

With Eliot Wolf pulling out of the derby to become the 49ers General Manager and Brian Gutekunst reportedly the favorite for the job, one of the potential heirs to Packers G.M. Ted Thompson’s job will remain.

But according to Bob McGinn of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, the “best bet” for Thompson’s replacement could be Chiefs G.M. John Dorsey.

Don't forget Trent Baalke. Unbelievable amount of activity and talk about the top of our food chain.

Would love to see John Dorsey come back into the fold.

So excited to get things shaken up in our hierarchy. Been waiting a long time for this.

Ted Thompson sits on his hands per former GM: "because they’ve had 25 fricking years of great quarterbacks. Of course it works. Try it without a special quarterback."

But also could be Dorset wanting a higher offer from his team just like a lot of scouts just got from the 49ers search option...

Would be very surprised to feel about next tandem as I do this one as it's about mindset. Next group by default has to be more aggressive about winning Championships.

I would've loved him but he lacked confidence and intelligence. BJ Sander will forever haunt his tenure.

Appreciated his aggression. I have consistently said I like intelligence and aggression. Stupid and aggressive is less preferable than Ted's flatline approach.

Never forget that Sherman's record was in line with our greatest coaches until Ted gutted us to justify firing Sherman. Ted just said today he wouldn't have fired Mike McCarthy based off one year. He was full of irony today.

Why must we play these games? We need a more aggressive approach whether we win it all this year or not.

Sherman went to the playoffs 4 of his 6 seasons here including 4 straight. Missed his first season going 9-7 and the aberrant last season. Had a 2-4 record in the playoffs. He wasn't good enough. He is much harder to judge given he had dual roles. May have been a lot better as simply the GM. We'll never know. Like Mike McCarthy his team's gagged in big moments. 4th and 26. Fun times.

At that point you have two choices... keep doing it like the Saints have and be forced to trade away star players that you can't afford to keep, while being aggressive and at a disadvantage because you can't afford enough good pieces to go around the few star players that you keep.

Or gut it as you put it, and Ted Thompson and the Raiders (post Al Davis) have done.

It had nothing to do with justifing a firing, and I think the Packers President said he was surprised when Thompson kept him that first year... and media has suggested the reason Sherman was fired was because he refused to talk or communicate with Thompson. McCarthy has been willing to talk with Thompson, even though McCarthy has suggested it sometimes feels like it falls on deaf ears (MM said it with a laugh, when talking about how he used to make FA list he was interested in every year... and I think he says he still does but maybe does not expect much anymore like he used too )

Why fire a guy with a winning percentage that rivaled the greatest coaches we've ever had. Ted forced trash players on him, ones he would've never played with himself. He goes 4-12 and gets fired after one bad year with Taco Wallace at WR?

That's not consistent with what Ted said today. It makes it even more so that Ted didn't gut MM's players this year and was never going to think about firing him after one bad season so how does he purposely punish Sherman and then fire him after one bad season?

Mucky Tundra (1h) : But to say they are in is looking past the Saints
Mucky Tundra (1h) : That said, their odds are very favorable with a >99% chance of making the playoffs entering this week's games
Mucky Tundra (2h) : Packers are not in and have not clinched a playoff spot.
buckeyepackfan (2h) : Packers are in, they need to keep winning to improve their seed#.
Mucky Tundra (11h) : Getting help would have been nice, but helping ourselves should always be the plan
beast (11h) : Too bad Seahawks couldn't beat Vikings
bboystyle (12h) : We just need to win Monday night and were in
Mucky Tundra (15h) : Or ties, but let's be real here
Mucky Tundra (15h) : Other scenario was Falcons+Rams losses
Mucky Tundra (15h) : Needed a Falcons loss for a Seahawk loss to clinch
buckeyepackfan (15h) : Am I wring in saying if Tge Vikings beat The Seahawks, The Packers clinch?
Mucky Tundra (21-Dec) : Agreed; you stinks
Zero2Cool (21-Dec) : I'm not beating anyone. I stinks.
Mucky Tundra (21-Dec) : rough injury for tank dell. guy can't catch abreak
beast (21-Dec) : So far the college playoffs have sucked... One team absolutely dominates the other

Martha Careful (21-Dec) : I think MLF want Love to look past the end half issues, and feel good about his play. Our coaches generally keep a very positive tone.
beast (21-Dec) : I think a great running game will do that for most QBs
packerfanoutwest (21-Dec) : Coach Matt LaFleur has said quarterback Jordan Love is playing the best football of his career.
beast (21-Dec) : Oh, that's how you keep beating buckeye, with cheating

wpr (20-Dec) : and then there is Beast. Running away with it all.
beast (20-Dec) : As of tonight, 3 way tie for 2nd in Pick'em, that battle is interesting!
beast (20-Dec) : Lions vs Vikings could be the main last game as it could determine division winners or #1 vs #2 seed
Mucky Tundra (20-Dec) : Or if KC needs to win for the #1 seed
Mucky Tundra (20-Dec) : Right now it looks like the only prime worthy games are Det-Minny and KC-Denver (if Denver can clinch a wild card spot)
Mucky Tundra (20-Dec) : The entirety of week 18 being listed as flex is weird
Zero2Cool (19-Dec) : Matt LaFleur today says unequivocally "Ted Thompson had nothing to do with the drafting of Jordan Love."
Zero2Cool (19-Dec) : Apparently, the editing is what pieces comments together. That Ted thing ... fake news.
Zero2Cool (19-Dec) : LaFleur "opportunity that Ted Thompson thought was too good to pass up"
Zero2Cool (19-Dec) : Jordan Love pick was Ted Thompson's idea.

packerfanoutwest (19-Dec) : Alexander’s last season with GB
Martha Careful (18-Dec) : if I were a professional athlete, I would probably look to see who the agent is for Kirk Cousins and then use him

Mucky Tundra (18-Dec) : a lower case b
Mucky Tundra (18-Dec) : The real lie is how beast capitalized his name in his message while it's normally spelled with
packerfanoutwest (18-Dec) : haha that's a lie
beast (17-Dec) : Despite what lies other might tell, Beast didn't hate the Winter Warnings, it felt refreshing to Beast for some reason.
Zero2Cool (17-Dec) : whiteout uniforms in general are pretty lame and weak. NFL greed at it's worst
Martha Careful (17-Dec) : The Viking uniforms, the whiteout uniforms specifically absolutely suck
beast (17-Dec) : Thanks Zero2Cool, looks a lot better now
beast (17-Dec) : Seems like someone has a crush on me, can't stop talking about me
Zero2Cool (17-Dec) : Should be gooder now. The forum default theme went to goofy land.
Zero2Cool (17-Dec) : What the hell
packerfanoutwest (17-Dec) : yeah beast hates the Winter Warning Unies
Mucky Tundra (16-Dec) : Okay I'm glad to know it's not just something happening to me lol
Mucky Tundra (16-Dec) : Zero, did you copy the Packers uniforms from last night and white out the board?
beast (16-Dec) : Oh crap, is the board going to the Winter Warning Uniforms too?!? It's all white on white right now!
