I believe it was because they saw Jim Harbaugh have success before, during and after his time with the 49ers... while their GM (who they stuck by during the GM/HC battles) only had success while Harbaugh was there... so they see the head coach as the more important position to fill.


But really it seems like they're doing a good job (or at least I think they are) with their new choices for both... the Falcons October was the guy I wanted to be the Packers HC in the "what if" scenario that the Packers fired MM (which I didn't think would happen). And the GM choices seems pretty good... Packers and Vikings have done a good job drafting and developing... Cards have gone a bit more high risk selecting players with physical abilities that stand out and some they have been able to develop with great success, while others never did develop for what ever reason, and we're basically busts.

Glad we're keeping Eliot and hoping Brian doesn't get an offer and take the job. Seems to me we preferred Eliot to Brian as we just upped things for Eliot. Brian has to feel snubbed and inclined to take the job, if offered.

It's not knew ... I believe Brian has been (officially) with the Packers longer and yet he's always been behind Eliot.

Also the Packers can't offer them, both the GM position then they could be happy that Brian's finds a GM position elsewhere and the Packers might hope he beats up on the other NFC WEST teams (Seahawks and Cardinals can't knock you out of the playoffs if they're not in the playoffs).
