I don't think Peppers could get the job done as DE in a 3-4.

peppers would NOT be a DE in a 3-4
he would be a olb
i'm starting to think that he would be a good addition to our defense
An OLB in the 3-4 set and a DE in a 4-3 set

IMO the money he'll demand and the amount a top 10 pick wouldn't differ too much.. the guaranteed amount of peppers contract would be a little more but most big contract guys never see the full amount of the contract

Referring to Z2C's original post, I'd be very pissed if either of those scenarios were to happen.

I don't want to get peppers. I can just imagine the kind of money he'd command. enough so that we wouldn't be able to re-sign many of our guys such as Kampman, Collins, and one Greg Jennings.

Peppers would get a lot money no doubt, but signing one free agent to a ridiculous contract isn't going to put the team in cap hell. I think Mike Sherman made a lot of Packer fans paranoid that a Joe Johnson type deal is what will ruin the Packers cap.

IF GB gets Peppers and signs him to the same deal Albert Haynesworth got, they'll still have plenty of money left over to sign Aaron Kampman, Nick Collins, and Greg Jennings and they'll still have money left after that.

The Packers have a lot of cap room. Washington had under I think 10 million going into the season and they still managed to sign Albert Haynesworth, Derrick Dockery, and DeAngelo Hall to big time deals.

GB has 35 million dollars in cap space right now.

Now I think the chances of Peppers coming to GB is slim to none, but none the less I think the point needs to get across that Green Bay's cap room is amazing right now.

That you can credit Ted Thompson with.

"cap hell" sounds a bit strong. Washington had to make cuts to sign their new guys too. I just don't like the thought of having to cut our guys short of their contracts. I know Thompson front loads the contracts while Dan Snyder and those types back load them, meaning they will get cut prior to fulfilling the contract, but i just don't like the prospect of having one player chew up so much of the cap space. so what if we get a guy like peppers and sign him to a HUGE front loaded contract, then in two years someone else on the team gets a big contract and he decides that his contract needs to be renegotiated? Anquon Boldin anyone?

Anquan Boldin outplayed his contract. You can't deny that.

Even after he complained, he still played. Even after suffering a very serious injury, he still played. And he played well.

Remember, just a couple years ago we had two guys eating a BIG LOAD of the cap. One guy was Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila... the other guy was someone named Brett.

Our highest paid player is Aaron Rodgers. Believe me, after one year where our highest paid players were Brett Favre, Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila, and Robert Ferguson--I wouldn't be totally upset if our best paid players were Aaron Rodgers, Julius Peppers, and Greg Jennings.
