Vikings | Birk may return

Jamison Hensley, of The Baltimore Sun, reports free-agent C Matt Birk (Vikings) has not ruled out a return to the Minnesota Vikings. It is believed Birk will decide whether to sign with the Vikings or Baltimore Ravens during the next two days.

Jamison Hensley, of The Baltimore Sun, reports free-agent C Matt Birk (Vikings) said he is "absolutely" considering signing with the Baltimore Ravens. Birk met with the Ravens Tuesday, March 3, and is expected to meet again with the team Wednesday, March 4.

ESPN reports it's done deal, Matty B. is a Raven.

Not surprised, though. It was fairly common knowledge that Chilly and Birk didn't get along all that well.. especially this past offseason when Birk didn't attend any optional training sessions (He's always trained with Mike Morris during Viking OTAs, so nothing new there).

Personally, I'm not surprised, but I am.

I guess it's time to see how that center from Notre Dame does (John Sullivan).

Good for the Pack, but I'm sure that one has to hurt. He has always struck me as a supremely classy fellow, and I know he was very active in the community up there, especially with disadvantaged kids. I don't know squat about Sullivan, but I can't imagine him being an improvement over Birk either on the field or off it.

I can understand the move, $$$/age - wise, but the casual fanbase isn't going to like that one at all. Baltimore must think he has a ton of gas left in the tank to give him the contract I just saw.

Sometimes the business aspect of this game pisses me off, even when my rival team's fans get shafted.

I hope Zigi didn't lose him because he thought it was some kind of bluff on Matt Birk's part... even us Packer fans know that Birk don't roll that way, in spite of what I said in my initial post.

Woooo! Now the Queens don't have anyone to block BJ Raji!

It's kind of interesting because I remember seeing an article sometime during last season that said Birk had put his house up for sale on a website. He probably saw this coming.
