Not a full member, but maybe someone here is...

In this Packer Report exclusive, agent Brad Blank tells Packer Report that Green Bay has asked about his sought-after client

"The oranges are dry; the apples are mealy; and the papayas... I don't know what's going on with the papayas!"

I don't know about the article, but the player is of great interest, imo. The one positive I see from Boy-Blunder handing all that money out is that Canty is now a viable option for us, at least visit-wise, that is if Ted wants to consider spending obscene money, contrasted to Boy Blunder spending ridiculously obscene money. I figure right about half what Fat Albert got is what it will take for him.

as expected, the article foster linked to shows that it's a money thing. If we want him, we're going to have to be the highest bidder. Before too long, we'll find out if Ted is cool with that.

Those are all 4-3 teams, and he is coming from a 3-4. He might want to play in a 4-3, but his agent didn't seem to be indicating that. The numbers thrown out there are less than I anticipated. This is a very good DE in the 3-4...his numbers might not jump out at you, but what he brings is the capacity to hold the point of attack, enabling one of our 50 linebackers (joke) to bring heat upon the QB.

Bottom line, impact player at a position of real need, imo. Others are saying our chances of landing him are virtually nil. I think that there is some residual cynicism inherent with that preconceived notion. I'm not saying it is likely, but I'm also saying that the chances went up exponentially as a result of the Haynesworth signing... if we can just get him to Green Bay.

I'm not surprised that we're interested in him, I mean his presence at LDE helped DeMarcus Ware get 20 sacks this season and 14 the previous. He would definitely help Kampman out. His size allows him to be flexible enough to play at DT in the 4-3 too.

However, im pretty sure that Ted Thompson is just gauging interest, to see what a guy like Canty would be earning so he can find out the market value for that position. Chances are he will be far too pricey for us but at least he would have a good idea what to expect.

We all knew that DE was a position we are going to look at in free agency since there are so few top quality 3-4 DE's in the draft. It's an important position that needs quality and depth.

Igor Olshansky is probably the 2nd best DE available in the draft, he's only an inch smaller than Canty which is insignificant but he would come at a much better value which i'm sure Ted Thompson is aware of. I think Olshansky and interested teams are waiting to see what Canty would get so they can figure out what sort of offer would be acceptable for Olshansky.

dfosterf (25-Jul) : It's my one day deal complaint dept. on shareholder meeting day
dfosterf (25-Jul) : Probably a homer access credential intimidation kinda thing
dfosterf (25-Jul) : Meathead "journalists" skip this, concentrating on operational revenue when convenient. They switch when net revenue is more favorable.
dfosterf (25-Jul) : Resulting in an actual drop of net revenue of 12.5%. She is from Minnesota. Just sayin'

Mucky Tundra (25-Jul) : also, no bueno when a guy starts getting concussions right off the bat in his career
