I wonder if Ted has a draft limit bias (value limit) for TEs. The lowest he has selected a TE is in the 3rd round twice with Finley and Rodgers.

Most of the value guys posted by blueleopard are first and second round guys.

I see no one has answered how many TE's are comparable or better than Jermichael Finley. That is probably due to there not being 30+ TE's that are able to stretch the field and get the defenses attention by being a threat to catch the ball 70-80% of the time.

We all want All-Pro players at every position, but it is okay to be reasonable and understand that certain talent is not manufactured in abundance and there are slim pickings. This is the NFL, not Madden. We should accept that when we begin our complaining.

Finley getting hot is why defenses had to respect his talent. That opened things up for the offense because the defense had to respect it. That's why you want that kind of tight end who can stretch the field.

I wouldn't be surprised if this is at least partly because a lot of guys who might have played tight end in a different era are being scooped up to play guard in the mold of the taller, leaner, faster, more athletic hybrid offensive lineman that is becoming increasingly popular.

Fact is Ted drafted Finley. It's just that this training staff can't keep players healthy. So now he needs to find another one. Oh yeah, he did that too. Guess what happened to HIM.
