In the most depressing news of the day, Jarret Bush was tendered.

Bigby gets a second round tender.

The Packers also have applied the low tender of $1.01 million to four other restricted free agents: receiver Ruvell Martin, safety Jarrett Bush, fullback John Kuhn, and outside linebacker Jason Hunter. Because each player was undrafted, the Packers would receive only a right to match any offer they receive from another team.

The Packers reportedly decided not to extend tender offers to tight end Tory Humphery and receiver Shaun Bodiford.

In reality, this really doesn't mean that much. Seems like just some insurance on Bigbys draft pick. I figured/hoped he would have got a multi year deal.

I was mainly hoping that the next time I saw Bush's name it would be followed by the words "cut" or "released".

Someone just pointed out to me that Bush is a good special teams player. I knew there had to be a reason to keep him, I damn sure couldn't remember one. I wanted him gone last year. I'm perfectly OK with being wrong in my assessment of him going forward, but unfortunately, I'm not.

Bush just seems to be in the middle of things that just aren't going right. He'll make a couple good plays but then, for example, in the NFC Championship game he could of just FELL ON THE #%$&$$ BALL. I get pissed. This year in the Panthers game. Crosby kicked off to the goal line (I saw this happening with my own eyes at Lambeau), Bush has a chance to tackle dude on the 15 but instead he left his jock in the locker room. The kick returner made it to the 50 yardline and then bomb to Steve Smith.

There's plenty more screw ups. He's bad karma.

Jarrett Bush is like a cheap convenience store swiss army knife. He can do a lot of things (ST/CB/S) but doesn't do any one particular thing well. You still keep him around though because he's useful for emergencies. :P

The one I'm surprised out of this though is Tory Humphrey. He admittedly has been injury prone and wasn't necessarily spectacular last season, but it's not like we have a ton of depth at TE to begin with. I figured he'd at least be brought back to compete for a roster spot again. We could still, in theory, resign him though to a lesser deal than the $1 million tender.

Word!

At the very least we should grab another solid blocking tight end to compliment Lee and Finely

^ I think if Tony G is coming to GB then the Packers will likely release Donald Lee or trade him for a late round draft pick.

Jarrett Bush getting the tender by no means indicates he's a Packers for 2009. It means he has a chance to be a Packer for 2009, but I could see him being released this Summer.

True dat.

In Bush's defense, he's a better safety than corner... maybe this is insurance in case someone snaps up Bigby.
