And of course all these running backs carry their weight evenly throughout their body like Montgomery does. Oh wait, no the don't. Running backs carry more weight in their legs and posteriors for power and taking hits to the lower body.

I guess we should have been making Montgomery a running back all this time since he's such a good fit. 🙄

Why can't you guys just admit the Packers are desperate? Is that so difficult?

I don't think the whole time, but I think Montgomery makes a pretty good 3rd down RB... and maybe they should have been working him there some. Of course he's been injured (rookie/offseason) and the other example I was thinking about was Hyde, who like Monty, is sorta a tweener. Hyde played at CB as a rookie and didn't switch until his 2nd year... Monty is in his 2nd year now.

Based on his college film, I have also thought maybe they should work Rip in with the TEs some. Rips route running looks average (probably because he hasn't been taught much) but he surprised me with how well he adjusted passes that were off, and he looked like a TE doing so.... so if he learns routes he could be used as both a TE and a FB and while Rip (like a lot of TEs) isn't going to make anyone miss, Rip is willing and able to power run over somebody, which isn't true for our other TEs. And make Rip as versatile as possible... so defenses play calls are less such if he's going to line up as a FB or TE. He also might block better on line from a 3 point stances than the other TEs.

Fact is, Montgomery is the type of RB who fits our offense. It's just that Mike prefers big slow guys who can pound up the middle. Mike doesn't have a choice now.

You make it sound like the Packers are using Julio Jones back there. My gosh, Ty is what the fourth or fifth WR? We want the team to adapt to its players and this is FINALLY happening and we're going to cry about risking a player getting injured? This is FOOTBALL. Tough'n up buttercups!!

In this particular case I'm fine with it, but more because having him in the backfield is also good for the receiving game too if playcalled correctly.

Also, I'm not sure if this is random chance or our return blocking, but it seems like we get very few opportunities to actually return punts, at least this year. Anybody else notice this?

Montgomery at RB? I don't like it, and never will.

We should use these open roster spots to sign some mediocre FA RBs so we can put Montgomery back on the bench where he won't be at risk of getting injured.
