What do you all feel about Knile Davis? (what did we give up?)

The Packers kicked the tires on C.J. Spiller before he went to Seattle, so they clearly felt a need at running back.

They apparently addressed it today.

According to Terez Paylor of the Kansas City Star, the Chiefs have traded running back Knile Davis to the Packers.

He was surplus to needs in Kansas City once Tyreek Hill took over as the return man, since he was no better than their fourth option on offense. But in Green Bay, he has a shot to contribute.

Ahhh, the senile one has unearthed another hidden gem, like when he unearthed Schum.
Well at least he actually did something instead of just sitting on his thumb.

Packers acquired RB Knile Davis from the Chiefs.
The details of the deal have yet to be leaked, but they likely involve a late-round pick. With James Starks out a month, the Packers needed some depth behind banged-up starter Eddie Lacy. Davis is unlikely to be ready to contribute Thursday night, meaning Ty Montgomery should once again see plenty of snaps in the backfield. Oct 18 - 8:22 AM

It's probably the end for Starks. Maybe Davis can play CB too.

It’s a surprise in that I didn’t expect the Packers but it’s not a surprise in that we’ve talked about a Knile trade for a while. It was reported that he wanted a trade, that the Chiefs were talking to other teams as long ago as last year and then ... nothing happened. The Chiefs kept him until now.

Knile no longer had a role on the Chiefs offense with Jamaal Charles back and the emergence of Spencer Ware. Nor did he have a special teams role with Tyreek Hill’s abilities. They kept him on the roster despite many thinking he would get cut, apparently for a moment like this.

He was inactive last week. The Chiefs have three backs they like ahead of him. He is a good player with special teams value though. The Packers could do worse.

I hope they didn't give up too high of a pick for him.

Pretty sure every single one of us predicted the compensation here.

Knile Davis is in the final year of his 2013 rookie contract deal. (same as Eddie Lacy, I believe)

*Rushing career reg season: 233/775/3.3 avg, 4 fumbles, 11 TDs

The quality of his fumbles is amazing, a stiff breeze hitting his arm can cause them:

Playoffs v. NE

v. Bills

v. Colts

I like that the Packers are being proactive in improving the roster considering how beat up they are at RB. A 7th round pick isn't much if he can help stabilize the backfield.

All that being said I know virtually nothing about the guy but he's a former 3rd round pick so obviously some people think he has/had talent.
