When will Aaron Rodgers go to "Jared"?

In June, Green Bay Packers coach Mike McCarthy called Jared Abbrederis' offseason performance “exemplary” and “exceptional.” In August, Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers said Abbrederis was having a “phenomenal [training] camp.”

Yet it’s Week 5, and the third-year receiver has barely made a contribution despite all the praise thrown his way since late last season. That's when he showed his potential with four catches for 55 yards in the playoff loss at Arizona that many thought would be a breakout performance for the former fifth-round draft pick from Wisconsin.

Abbrederis has seen the field for only 20 offensive snaps this season – 14 of which came in the regular-season opener. With the Packers back to work after last week’s bye, there’s still no sign that Abbrederis will have a bigger role – or any role at all – in Sunday night’s game against the New York Giants.

It makes ZERO sense that we kept 7 receivers but only use 3. Mix it up already

The "starters" played almost ZERO plays in the real preseason.

The 1st 3 games were basically an extension of preseason.

Let's be a little patient.

We have seen Ty Montgomery taking the snaps out of the backfield that usually Randall Cobb gets.

We have seen Trevor Davis take over punt return duties from Micah Hyde.

Jeff Janis clubbed his way through 3 games on Special teams.

The "extended preseason" is over.

With Jared Cook down for awhile, I think you will see more 4 wr sets, whether Abby is part of those sets is a "wait and see" for us fans.

IMHO this+ team is ready to go on a roll!!!

The Defense is not being talked about enough.

Patience, all is good!!!

Most teams usually just play starters for a couple drives each in the 1st 2 games then a half and maybe a drive in the 3rd game then sit the 4th. The preseason thing is not a good excuse.

Extend that out for a full season and you get what most every team shoots for....12-4.

Plenty of young guys got valuable playing time, which will benefit the whole team later in the year.

There are game plans installed each week.
So far Abby hasn't had much involvement .

Neither has Randall Cobb.

They both play the same position.

Let's see what happens Sunday night.

I know one thing,
Abby will be ready when called upon.

I believe the main reason Abby isn't getting more snaps is because
• Coaches have Abby slotted into the slot position behind Cobb.
  • Cobb does his best to never come off the field.
  • The game plans have been around the use of only one slot WR.
  •
But I have wondered... if like a lot of players, if Cobb might more effective if they forced him to rotate off the field every so often. Say instead of playing 92.1% of the snaps like he currently is doing... if he might be more effective playing 80-85% of the snaps instead. Give his lungs a chance to catch up and make the defender work against some fresh legs. It might not be true... but it's been a thought I've had.

Now that Cobb's career has likely been cut short, maybe Abby will get some reps!

Randall made some clutch plays today, including the one to seal the game.
