Everything is speculation because none of us are a part of the locker room. That being said, Mike just spoke about it and looked very on board with the decision.

It's not speculation to think Sitton was cut because of being unhappy with his contract but it's speculation to think it's because of a locker room incident or some other non contract related personal issue. I wouldn't be surprised if him and Sam Barrington got into it and it became racial or something since Sam was somewhat of a surprise cut as well and I doubt Ted just straight out dumps Sitton at the last minute without some kind of approval from the coaching staff.

Raji and Jennings expressed displeasure with the progress of their contracts and they didn't get jettisoned. Raji was actually resigned. And I'm sure there's a ton of other guys that were unhappy about contracts that have not been made public. You dont just go cutting a guy because he doesn't like his deal or lack of one.

Now if the contract issue causes the player to hold back or the issue causes a distraction to others; then the guy has got to go! Sitton's release had to be tied to his holding back or some sort of other lockerrom distraction...nothing else makes sense. Yea, and as you say, if two guys are causing a racial divide, both gotta go quick!

To just punt Sitton he had to have said or done something to piss off a good chunk of the roster or coaching staff.

This is a conversation I could imagine going down between Thompson and McCarthy.

TT: " so what do you think about the young guys we have on the offensive line?"

MM: "I think we have a lot of talent there and I think we have a lot of depth"

TT: "you know, a bunch of them are at the ends of their contracts after this year, we probably won't keep them all"

MM: "it will work out, like I said we have a bunch of talented young guys"

TT: "Josh has voiced some displeasure about no contracts talks"

MM: "That's your department not mine"

TT: "between you me and the lamp post I really don't think we are going to resign him"

MM: "Like I said it will work out"

TT: "do you think lane is ready to take over at LG?"

MM: "Lane's a great talent. Obviously he doesn't have Josh's experience but he would do fine"

TT: "You know, if we let Josh go we could save 6 million in cap space and that would go a long way in letting us keep someone else."

MM: "again Ted, that's your department not mine"

TT: "Yeah, but do you think Lane could get the job done at LG"

MM: " Yeah, I think he could"

TT: "OK then. See ya later"

MM: "yup"

Other than I'm not sure Ted is a guy who would say "see ya later" I'm guessing this is pretty much verbatim as to the convo that went down.
