Can the receivers get open on press coverage.

If Taylor is starting at G, maybe that'll force Aaron to start getting the ball out in under 8 seconds. 🤣

I expect an extension for Bahktiari, Lang, or Tretter to be announced in a few weeks. I think the move was designed to free up cap space to front laid a deal for one of our younger linemen.

That being said, Lane Taylor has done nothing over the preseason to show he is capable of handling this role. I will be routing for him to prove me wrong but I am skeptical.

I like Taylor.
I have always thought he was too good to be just a backup guard.
It seems the organization agreded when they gave him the extension.
He is only 26, so he has a lot of years ahead.
I must say I'd have never cut Sitton but I have praised Taylor before and I think he can be our starting LG without any problems.
I'm not very good at scouting OLs, maybe barfan or someone can help me with my evaluation but I think Taylor is very quick, quite smart and is really excellent run-blocking, he as Tretter can be too quick sometimes and overshoot resulting in some ridiculous plays, both young guys need to learn to control their speed compared to DLs and to adjust that according to the play development.

Right now he is an improvement over Sitton in run blocking and he is not as good in pass protection. I believe that Taylor can play very well next to Tretter and Bakthiari.

There's NO WAY we cut him, Taylor is our best G behind Sitton and Lang and played a hell of a game against NO."

Moving from Sitton appears to me to be another move to build the run game. Blocking up the middle should be improved with Taylor and Trettor over Sitton and Lindsley.

And improving the middle run game should not only make pass blocking easier, should improve the passing game as well.

Are some fans seriously contending that there will not be a noticeable drop off in the play of OL with Lane Taylor replacing Sitton or even more inexplicably that it will get getter?

Lane Taylor is and always will be nothing more than a scrub.

Just because Ted Thompson & Mike McCarthy say Taylor he is ready to go, does not make it a fact. These are the same guys who insisted that MD Jennings & Jerron McMillian were prepared to replace Woodson and play safety at a competent level and we all know how that turned out.

I have no problem with getting rid of Sitton (though getting nothing in return for him when there was obviously a market reflects poorly on the GM), but I for one will not buy the BS about Lane freakin' Taylor being a competent starting guard.

Good luck Aaron, you're going to need it.
