Dudes I'm loving the way they are moving guys around this off-season. I think it's a testament to how efficiency the coaching staff has planned these off-season practices as well as the ability of the players we've acquired to learn multiple positions.

I think they want to use Burnett and Dix as interchangeable safeties. It makes our defense more difficult to read. They do have similar abilities. Neither is as good as Nick Collins, but together they form a pretty good pair, maybe as good as we've had since Butler and Robinson.

I've been predicting that we will see less LB and more Safeties in order to improve coverage of TEs and RBs.
The world needs ditch diggers too Danny!!!

Problem is, you can move guys around all you want and they still don't have enough talent. Burnett is not Bucannon. I'd love to have a guy like Bucannon and the options he offers on the team, but they don't have one.

Smoke and mirrors.

If Burnett is at LB... then who's at SS?

I've been a fan of the physical DB at LB idea for YEARS!!!!... but you have to have enough talented DB to run it... so if Burnett is at LB, does that mean Hyde or Banjo are at SS? ... I like the idea of Burnett at coverage LB... but I'm not sure about Hyde or Banjo at SS.

But really using a S as a LB is not new for the Packers, they just don't run it that often. Mainly when they the combo of playing against heavy run offenses, and the Packers have depth at DB.

I remember one game when the Packers went to their normal 2-4 nickel package (which has a 4-2 look and feel), they then surprised me by dropping Collins down to OLB giving it a 4-3 look with three CBs and a single deep S.

I can't remember it as well... but I think they also did something creative in the 9-0, almost no offense game against the Rex Ryan Jets.

Also when they had a healthy SS Richardson, they'd use him as a run stuffing coverage DB/LB at times.

But I'm just not sure the Packers have the Safety depth to do it this year... unless they're thinking about the 3 CB and 1 S look like they ran with Collins. Or if they plan to drop Randall back to Safety at times or something.
