Green Bay Packers football is just 83 days away. Let's take a look at No. 83 for the Packers, wide receiver Jeff Janis. If Jeff Janis doesn't make the 53-man roster, there might be riots in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Not many players have earned the admiration of the fans quite like Janis. Let the hype train

Well I did it again. I guess it is the touch screen on the computer that thinks I want to create new topics. Sigh.

As long as we have the topic, Janis has about a 50-50 chance. There are a number of guys who need to step up.

Adams, Janis, Abbrederis and Montgomery all have a chance to prove themselves. I put no stock in the half dozen training camp fodder that people seem to fall in love with every training camp. I really do't care who has the most catches or receiving yards in TC. If they got those yards against the 1st string defense I would be impressed but not so again a bunch of guys who are not going to make their respective teams either. Once the games begin the actually reset the stats meter to ZERO and begin again. They have a very long way to go and will most likely end up in the same place that Chastin West and Co have done for the past 10 years.

Trevor Davis has a slightly better chance than the Street FA since he cost GB a draft pick but if the top guys all step up he will be relegated to the PS.

Really hoping Montgomery comes back strong and is totally healed up. Was looking semi-solid with a lot of potential (James Jones kind of guy minus the dropsies earlier in career) before he went down. Obviously didn't get a great sample size but fingers crossed.

Then again, don't care who steps up in the end so long as they step up and we win a super bowl. Could be Brett Favre at DT for all I care.

His skill set is going up and getting the ball, and he does do that well. But he has to make the team this year. Anbrederis got the dreaded word of confidence from the HC. He's a solid slot guy on a team that has several who can play that position. Flashy on punt returns though, imo. Thing is, we also have guys who can do that, and who aren't known to be fragile.

Trevor Davis may have a little flash. It'll be interesting to see what he looks like. He'll need a season to get up to speed, but if he puts something good on tape, they won't be able to PS him.

Jeff Janis is a lock for the 53. There is absolutely zero chance he does not make the team. He has tremendous upside as a receiver and is dominant on Special Teams and is young. He will not go anywhere. Davante Adams, since his name was mentioned, I have been more and more thinking if Jordy Nelson comes back anywhere close to 100%, (same for Ty Montgomery) and this Trevor Davis offers anything better than we had last year as a returner, Adams might get shipped out for a 6th round pick or OL depth.

I think Janis has a very good chance based on the ability he showed as a gunner last year. If he earns time at WR its just a bonus. I think Abby has the advantage for the final WR position based on last year. And lets not forget Abby was a returner in college also.
The world needs ditch diggers too Danny!!!

We have been more or less talking about it but how do you rank the WRs as a whole? I pulled this list off Ourlads website. It's probably pretty close.

If Montgomery is healthy Abby is probably behind him on the depth chart.

Janis might out perform Adams and get more playing time but before TC rolls around being a 2nd round pick Adams wins out until he proves he is not worthy.

LWR NELSON, JORDY 08/2 Adams, Davante 14/2 Janis, Jeff 14/7 Davis, Trevor 16/5 Williams, Ed CF15 Waters, Herb CF16

RWR Cobb, Randall 11/2 Abbrederis, Jared 14/5 Montgomery, Ty 15/3 Johnson, Jamel CF15 Allison, Geronimo CF16

The draw back to the ourlads site is they don't put anyone into the slot.

beast (12h) : Also why do both NYC teams have absolutely horrible OL for over a decade?
beast (12h) : I wonder why the Jets always hire defensive coaches to be head coach
Zero2Cool (22h) : Still HC positions available out there. I wonder if Hafley pops up for one
Zero2Cool (22h) : Trent Baalke is out as the Jaguars GM.
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Jeff Hafley would have been a better choice, fortunately they don't know that. Someone will figure that out next off season
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Aaron Glenn Planning To Take Jets HC Job
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Martha- C'est mon boulot! 😁
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Thank you
wpr (22-Jan) : Z, glad you are feeling better.
wpr (22-Jan) : My son and D-I-L work for UM. It's a way to pick on them.
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Thank you. I rarely get sick, and even more rarely sick to the point I can't work.
wpr (22-Jan) : Beast- back to yesterday, I CAN say OSU your have been Michigan IF the odds of making the playoffs were more urgent.
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Glad to hear you are feeling a bit better.
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : I've been near death ill last several days, finally feel less dead and site issues.
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : It is a big deal. This host is having issues. It's frustrating.
Martha Careful (22-Jan) : just kidding...it was down
Martha Careful (22-Jan) : you were blocked yesterday, due to a a recalcitrant demeanor yesterday in the penalty box for a recalcitrant demeanor
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Was that site shutdown on your end or mine? No big deal, just curious
beast (21-Jan) : That way teams like Indiana and SMU don't make the conference championships by simply avoiding all the other good teams in their own confere
beast (21-Jan) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.
beast (21-Jan) : You can't assume Ohio State would of won the Michigan game...
beast (21-Jan) : Rankings were 1) Oregon 2) Georgia 3) Texas 4) Penn State 5) Notre Dame 6) Ohio State, none of the rest mattered
wpr (21-Jan) : Texas, ND and OSU would have been fighting for the final 2 slots.
wpr (21-Jan) : Oregon and Georgia were locks. Without the luxury of extra playoff berths, Ohios St would have been more focused on Michigan game.
wpr (21-Jan) : Zero, no. If there were only 4 teams Ohio State would have been one of them. Boise St and ASU would not have been selected.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : So that was 7 vs 8, that means in BCS they never would made it?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : A great game. Give ND credit for coming back, although I am please with the outcome.
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : FG to make it academic
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : and there's the dagger
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooo 8 point game with 4 minutes to go!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooooooohhhhhh he missed!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Ooooo that completion makes things VERY interesting
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Game not over yet
beast (21-Jan) : Oh yeah, Georgia starting quarterback season ending elbow injury
beast (21-Jan) : Sadly something happened to Georgia... they should be playing in this game against Ohio State
beast (21-Jan) : I thought Ohio State and Texas were both better than Notre Dame & Penn State
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame getting rolled
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : Ohio State just got punched in the gut. Lets see how they respond
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame vs the Luckeyes, bleh
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Oh snap!!!
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : Even Stevie Wonder can see that.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : Nah, you see Lions OC leaving to be HC of Bears is directly related to Packers.
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ohhhhhhh Zero is in TROUBLE
packerfanoutwest (21-Jan) : Zero, per your orders, check Bearshome, not packershome
Zero2Cool (20-Jan) : Then he'll land with another team and flourish.
Zero2Cool (20-Jan) : Ben going to Bears. He'll be out in 3 years.
Mucky Tundra (20-Jan) : what's so funny?
Zero2Cool (20-Jan) : BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
