When the first round convenes Thursday, the Packers are scheduled for the 27th selection. After studying the Packers’ current depth chart, an NFL executive in personnel viewed the front seven on defense as the foremost need.

Bak isn't really injury prone but Bulaga is and Bak might walk next year so having a decent back up there is important just not the most important. OT and especially LT is ridiculously overrated. They are positions where you absolutely NEED a good player but the impact on your team between having just a good player and having a great player isn't much different.

There are positions where you can be ok with a bad player and OT isn't one of them but it isn't like WR or pass rusher where an elite one is going to make a huge difference over having just a good one. Bulaga is good and Bakhtiari is only borderline good, if we can improve on either then great but them being our OT isn't going to make or break whether we have an elite offense or not. What we really need is some kind of plan for Jordy Nelson not being the same Jordy because not having him is what really broke the offense.

But with Raji retiring/Pennell suspended/Datone moved to elephant (which includes dropping weight in the offseason, so we can't just move him back to the Dline) our Dline needs some beef too.

Thing is, Dline is much deeper in this draft than Oline.

Not sure how that PS guy is coming along, Vunjavich as a T, but I'm not counting on him.

It's funny but it's hard to really say what the biggest need will be until the season is underway. Who would have thought our biggest need last year would have been WR? Injuries can come out of nowhere and focus on one position of your team, and it's hard to overcome.

Every team could possibly need front 7 help because having a strong pass rush has proven to be what helps you win the big game in the end. I'm confident potentially dominant defensive linemen will be available well past the first round, but will we find him... that's always the question and part of what makes the draft so exciting.

Could we use an upgrade at the position? Sure. But that's not gonna cause the DC to actually have someone cover the middle of the field.

As for TE, I think Barn has demonstrated that RR can get down the middle, they're just not using him that way.
