Forte also got a $12 million, 3 year contract of which $9 million is guaranteed. For a 30 year old running back with a lot of wear and tear that's still quite a bit of money. They can cut him pretty safely in year 3, but I like us not handing that kind of money to a player his age, with his wear and tear at a position with little positional value and which isn't a big need for us.

You can only spend that money once. I'd prefer we spend it on a good NT, for instance.

"James Starks, RB (Packers): Two years, $6MM. $1.5MM signing bonus. $300K in annual per-game active roster bonuses. Up to $600K in annual Pro Bowl and rushing-yard incentives"

If I am understanding this correctly, we can automatically subtract 600k twice for both years that he won't make the pro bowl. Making it 2 years for 4.8 million - with only 1.5 million guaranteed.

Is that right?

I don't understand all the hate towards Starks.
The ONLY problem I have with him is his fumbling. If he clears that up, he will do fine.
He might be 30, but he hasn't been beat up like Forte has been. Lacy took a lot of the hits, where Forte was driven into the ground.
I just don't see this as a bad signing.
Just my own feelings on it.

Nobody hates any of our players. We just want the mediocre ones replaced, instead of overpaying them.

I am curious if we draft a RB this year based on this signing. If we do what round it happens. It seems if you would go high it would only be next season if you know that Lacy will no longer be a Packer.

Once again Ted refuses to try and upgrade a position. Settling instead for a guy because he already knows his jock size and the player's wife's first name.

Oh and he can get the player on the cheap. That's important too.
