Ted Thompson must think Packers have Super Bowl-caliber roster

Rob is always an interesting read.

Who knows, maybe Thompson even views that to be true. But when he said last month at the combine that “we’re not going to chase ghosts because we think the clock is ticking,” perhaps that says it all.

No one expects him to "chase ghosts". To insinuate so is stupid and condescending. Just as bad is to stubbornly refuse to even look at the better quality talent that is available.

He is what he is.

The Packers will continue to be a contender for a playoff spot. And they will occasionally win a playoff game because of the "any given Sunday" rule.

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Wrong. The rule is because Aaron Rodgers is HoF calibre qb.

To pretend that Thompson has not put together a roster that can absolutely make it to the big game and win when they're firing on all cylinders is ludicrous.

No, I'm not implying that we can't do much better. I'm saying that one or two killer FAs won't win the Packers the super bowl if the defense, special teams, and offense aren't all playing at a high level. Which they are all quite capable of doing from a raw talent perspective. Injuries (which I still think is a training issue), coaching, and overall consistency are killers.

Ron Wolf would have stacked this team for legitimate super bowl runs. Sick of talking about this. We have what we have, what a waste of quarterback talent. Other teams must just shake their heads at how conservative we are.

I'm with Cheaseheads123. If our $22M QB plays like a $22M QB in playoffs and 4th quarter this is easily a SB caliber roster. If he plays like a poor man's Sanchez, then we're a lose first playoff game kinda team.

Oh and Ron Wolf IN THIS ERA would have managed this team EXACTLY like Ted is doing it! How do we know? He said so in his book!

This is a great time of year! As we watch all other teams pissing themselves getting worse by subtraction though addition.

One benefit of Ted's way. We know Cook was a real visit. No agent is going to waste his time sending Cook to GB only to try to embellish about the offer received to try to create a market for his player. EVERYONE knows if Ted made an offer for an underachiever guy like this, it's minimal.
