Report: Packers hire new running back coach

Ben Sirmans comes to the Packers after serving as the Los Angeles Rams running back coach, the previous four seasons. He was able to see rookie running back Todd Gurley produce 1,106 yards this season, despite only starting in 12 games.

Entering the NFL in 2012, after spending 16 years on the coaching staff at Boston College University, Sirmans has been able to guide running backs like Gurley, and Steven Jackson to 1,000 yard seasons, while seeing rookie running back Tre Mason reach 973 in 2014.

Before coaching at the collegiate level, Sirmans played collegiate ball according to the Rams’ site:

Sirmans played running back at Maine under current Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz. His senior year, Sirmans ran for 1,214 yards, earning All-Conference and All-New England honors. He graduated from Maine in 1993 with a degree in physical education, health, and recreation.

Eddie needs as many sirmans oops sermons as he can get.

There has to be "more to the story" for why the Rams let this guy go. A rookie RB performs incredibly well over 12 games coming off an injury and they fire his coach? That doesn't add up.

Ted Thompson sits on his hands per former GM: "because they’ve had 25 fricking years of great quarterbacks. Of course it works. Try it without a special quarterback."

It appears a bunch of coaches contracts expired with the Rams and they were not renewed.
