This is one mans view of some of the problems plaguing the Packers. I really think you have to add tight end into the mix and a more complete evaluation of the O-line. Also coaching need further change as Mike McCarthy is only as good as the people he surrounds himself with. I think the two released were scapegoats and more glaring problems on the staff need to be addressed.

As for Raji and Hayward, I'd bring them both back. I don't know why people are down on Hayward. I can see why people are down on Raji, I just disagree with them. I wouldn't overpay of course, and that's the key. What are they worth?

I like Perry too. As for Barclay, I would not overspend. Tretter can apparently back up both T positions. Richardson's career is over due to his repeated neck injury, and Quarless probably won't be back due to age and firearm habits. Well, and mediocrity.

If James Jones wants to be a Packer, he needs to bulk up and learn how to block full-time because it would be as a TE.

Assuming Jordy Nelson, Randall Cobb, Davante Adams, and Ty Montgomery all get back healthy -- the Packers offense will more than likely become a strength next season. Abbrederis and Janis are also both still under contract and look to finally see the field. If the offensive line stays healthy, maybe we might even go back to some of that 5WR fun we had a few years ago.

I say they keep B.J. Raji. Aside from perhaps Mike Pennel, no other interior lineman did much. Raji is the only one athletic enough to stay on the field should Capers go for subpackages to have more speed at the back end.

Hayward would be nice to keep, but if he demands anything more than what the Packers initially offer him, he's gone especially if Micah Hyde stays on the roster. Randall looks like he's ready to take the next step, Rollins hasn't actually done anything boneheaded, and Gunter needs to see the field more. None of these things happen if Hayward stays, but hey -- you can never have enough corners.

The only one of the 7 I'd be remotely interested in keeping is Raji and that on another 1 year, or 2 year prove it deal with escalators. Those big guys are hard to find. Raji isn't terrible and can be good when he really wants to which isn't close to often enough.

I have no real issue with Hayward...loved him as a rookie. He will be too costly with other players who can do his job for much less already on the roster.

Perry and Neal is an interesting one. I don't care if either return. I would think Perry would be the more desired of the two due to age but because of that and his more natural position being 4-3 end, I think he'll get a nice offer from someone we can't match causing us to panic and resign Neal because we can't draft an OLB to save our lives. Oh, and how could I forget...Datone Jones is moving out there so do we really need 3 guys who can't really play the position? I think Datone's move out there is a signal both guys might be done in Green Bay.

Mostly I wouldn't mind any of them coming back, as long as the price is right. I'm not paying Raji 8mil a year but he is well work 2 or 3. I would bring both Jones and Hayward back on base contracts with good performance escalators. James Jones if he was the #3 on this team with Nelson and Cobb he is still good for 600yard and 5-10TDs. If he would produce in that range I would gladly boost his pay a couple million.

Make the youth earn their positions.

The problem in this forum is that there are people that actually think we should have James "unhitch the plow" Jones back in camp next season. If we actually need him again next year, I'm sure we'll be able to call him at home.

I don't see anyone worth going out of your way to re-sign. If you can get Nick Perry or Casey Heyward back at the right price, then I'm all for that. However, I'd be much more inclined to see the Packers actually bring in some outside free agents. For example, if the choice is re-signing Nick Perry because he's homegrown or giving a little extra cash to Coby Fleener, then the latter is clearly the preferred option.

James Jones would leave a lot to be desired as any team's #1 WR. The thing is he wouldn't be counted on to be the teams #1 WR. He'd be #3 at best, maybe #2 on some teams. Right now I think he is a better WR than Adams, Abby and Janis but I think they will stick around because I do expect them to improve and they are younger and have value elsewhere. I do expect they will move on from him but I don't see what a training camp little to no guaranteed money contract would hurt just to have him around. I do think JJ should be playing in the NFL somewhere next year.

dfosterf (16-Apr) : that from Jaire
dfosterf (16-Apr) : My guess is the Packers floated the concept of a reworked contract via his agent and agent got a f'
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Yes, and that is why I think Rob worded it how he did. Rather than say "agent"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Same laws apply. Agent must present such an offer to Jaire. Cannot accept or reject without presenting it
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : I'm thinking that is why Rob worded it how he did.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The Packers can certainly still make the offer to the agent
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Laws of agency and definition of fiduciary responsibility
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Jaire is open to a reduced contract without Jaire's permission
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The agent would arguably violate the law if he were to tell the Packers
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : That someone ... likely the agent.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : So, Jaire has not been offered nor rejected a pay reduction, but someone says he'd decline.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovksy says t was direct communication with someone familiar with Jaire’s line of thinking at that moment.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovsky just replied to me a bit ago. Jaire hasn't said it.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Of course, that depends on the definition of "we"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : We have been told that they haven't because he wouldn't accept it. I submit we don't know that
dfosterf (16-Apr) : What is the downside in making a calculated reduced offer to Jaire?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers are receiving interest in Jaire Alexander but a trade is not imminent
