I've always been the first one to talk shit about Jeff Janis, primarily because of how annoying Uffda was in his Jeff Janis Circle Jerk. But I have to give credit where it is due.

Dude became a legend tonight. Would have been an all time legend, if Dom hadn't left Fitzgerald UNCOVERED in sudden death. But I digress.

Janis held up tonight and played a great game. If he learns to make over the shoulder catches, he could become a serious weapon.

Janis changes games on ST's and also with his speed. He's not one of the elites due to his lack of total understanding and just not being complete like the elites are but he has the same kind of attributes the elites do and you win with guys who can make plays. Hopefully, Aaron will give this kid a chance...83's confidence has to be through the roof and he has to be wondering like I am where he was all season?

While he has some gifts to contribute; on that 3rd down and 8 at 10, just before Crosby's 1st FG. He was supposed to run and out and he ran a fade. There is no excuse for this from a guy who's essentially a 3rd year player. The only thing that saved a pic 6 is that the CB was so shocked by Janis' fade, he stopped running to the sideline. If the CB was looking at AR or in a zone that was a pic 6, and 10 point swing.

You have a great running back that fumbles 1 per game; that is what Janis is like, except Janis is not a great WR at his best moments. So he's like James Starks fumbling every game. He has value at $500K playing in certain WR situations and STs, but he'll never make as a consistently good WR in a complicated offense.

He's not gonna get any better if you just leave him on the sideline either. It's better than having a slowass James Jones and an injured Randall Cobb on the field.

If you ask me, the offense got better when Cobb got hurt.

I don't care if Janis doesn't play 70 snaps a game but to not use what gifts he has for some significant snaps a game is just wrong. Yes, I know he makes mistakes...but he makes plays, too. Davante Adams doesn't make plays and makes just as many mistakes. What is the logic? It's 2nd round pick getting opportunity...don't want him to look like the bust he is. Davante should've been shelved long ago. It's embarrassing to me, personally, that we rolled him out there as often as we did expecting something different.

You were a touter of Adams and Richard Rodgers in the off season. I know you harp on how you watch tape but what in the world are you seeing that lead you to believe either one of those guys were players? Both were detrimental to us all season. What do either one offer? Seriously?

As I said, I'd rather live with mistakes of a guy who can make me big plays than I would with a guy who can't.

Janis did step up tonight. He played a great game. A game that I have seen many young WRs play never to be repeated. A game like Davante Adams had last year against the Patriots or against Dallas in the playoffs. Did he earn a chance to compete for more playing time next season, without a doubt. Will he take advantage of it? We shall see.

On the other hand I'm not surprised that Janis and Abby had good games. We only had 3 healthy WRs for most of the game and one of them was covered by Patrick Peterson. If Rodgers was going to complete passes someone had to catch them.

well said sschind. As Barfarn alluded to above, he does some stupid shit out there. You could see Rodgers frustration on the one play in the end zone.

He also has some undeniable athletic gifts we've seen since the slant vs. the Rams in the preseason as a rookie.

I don't think many beat the Janis drum as loudly as Uffda has, but it's also been abundantly clear for a while that there must be more ways the team could have, and should use his athleticism going forward.

Not sure how it could be argued it wouldn't have been better to roll with Janis over James Jones. James had 50 receptions...a paltry 3 per game. I think Janis could do that and make things happen like he did vs. SD and Arizona today.

Janis has looked silly on some plays, undoubtedly, but his speed has to be respected. Not another guy on our team had that this entire season.

Find another guy with speed who can play. I really am tired of these mid 4.5 WR's. It's not illegal to draft speedier players.

I really didn't see Janis do anything special. That said, I think the Packers are set at WR for next season. I do think Janis showed enough to merit a roster spot next season as WR.

But I agree, we have seen many players have big playoff games and never see much of them again. Janis is probably going to fall into that.
