I am trying to figure out why so many Packer fans dislike TT?

He was disliked before the whole Brett saga, so I crossed that one out of my mind.

He was disliked before he made the playoffs and just as much post that accomplishment.. so I figure lack of playoffs in 05 and 06 couldn't be the issue.

Is it because he is so reserved with his thoughts and is a poor public speaker?

Is it because he drafted Rodgers in 05?

Is it because he doesn't make huge splashes in Free Agency? Or a notion that he didn't do enough in Brett's twilight years?

Is it because he didn't resign Wahle, Rivera and Sharper in his first offseason?

Is it because he replaced Sherman? Or because he resigned Sherman and then fired him a season later?

Seems so many have been anti-Ted from day one, that I really can't pin point the reason why.

Not that it really matters, but I seen the basic question on another board and their dislike for Ted shadows their real issues.

So in your opinion, why do a faction of Packer nation dislike the man?

I believe in Ted Thompson. People are just pissed that he drafts nameless guys and keeps trying to move this team forward with his definition of Packer People.

I don't dislike Uncle Ted, and I won't assume to know what others are thinking. I've got this other vision bothering me lately though - 93 in a skirt and pom poms. Until free agency begins this will haunt me!

BTW 93, nothing good will come of this thread.

Agreed, Dakota....nothing good will come of this thread.

That being said, some people just need something to gripe about....and he is a very visible and safe target for people's frustrations....football related or otherwise.

Kid talks back....Ted sucks.

Wife leave....Ted sucks.

Dog craps the carpet....Ted sucks.

You have to blame someone for the losses. We couldn't possibly blame the QB to much, he's a legend. The only new people are Ted Thompson and McCarthy (And Rodgers later on), so they're easy targets. Same goes for Rodgers later on. Plus, he doesn't sign big names to often, which the big public seem to love.

Also, he isn't Ron Wolf. It's the same thing as Rodgers has with Favre it seems. They won't be good enough untill they win a SB. And even then it's still the question if everyone will embrace them.

Just my view on this.

Nothing good.. probably.. call it a maturity and reasoning test.

Or an honest search for why.

They just needed something to complain about and Ted Thompson happened to be the newest person around back then...

I'm not saying about people on here but some people have said they don't like him because he's extremely reserved with his thoughts, he doesn't make huge splashes in Free Agency (other than Woodson), doesn't resign all the guys every one likes (even though they go down hill and fast and prove there weren't worth the contract they got) and plain and simple he doesn't do anything "flashy" or try to make himself look good or cares what people think about his actions (as long as they think he's trying his best).

Basically he does things he's way which happen to to have almost no flash to them and doesn't kiss anyones butt, and that's the same reason Favre didn't like him IMO. Favre was used to people doing it and Ted Thompson wouldn't so Favre thought Ted Thompson was trying to "forced" Favre to retire.

A high percentage of Packer fans are blue collar, small town, fly over county Americans who do not look favorably on big city corporate America types.

Ted's personality comes across as all big city cooperate, the way he talks, the way he walks, the way he conducts his business. He even looks like he could be the CEO of Exxon. Ted looks like he reads his MBA manual before he will even mount his wife, and then does so in a proficient corporate manner following all guidelines and procedures for a smooth transition.

I could be wrong, and often am... But that is my take on it.

I just think Ted is Oil and many Packer Fans are Water.
