Butchering the National Anthem

Jennifer Hudson's performance was decent, up until the end (2:00-2:10) when she just butchered it something fierce. Does this piss anyone else off as bad as it does me? It's not a pop or R&B song, it's an anthem.

I'm not even American, so I don't know if I have any right of speech here, but I didn't like it that much.

Don't get me wrong, she can sing. She has a great voice, but I just don't like it when they just change a national anthem for no reason. Just sing The Star Spangled Banner the way it's supposed to, not make your own versions.

I thought it was awesome. one of the best in recent memory.

Why can't the song have variances? Isn't it ok for it to be somewhat dynamic just as the country it is about?

Aren't we all about change?

Just wait a few more years....

Half of the anthem will be sung in Spanish and half in English.

Just like in Canada.... Half English and half French.

It will be the P.C. thing to do.

Jennifer Hudson did an awesome job!! Some people butcher the song but she did not IMO. I had tears and chills hearing her sing that song. I also thought Faith Hill did an amazing job on America the Beautiful.

The whole song sounded like 2:00-2:10. And I will be honest, I would rather hear that than have the language split. That was not meant to be a racial comment at all.
She has a beautiful voice and is able to pull off what she did.
In the same instance, I would agree with you upon a song with the significance of this one should be sang "normally".
