Did you see that play that Aqib Talib did? The guy gets a ONE GAME suspension??? And he's appealing it?????? The guy could have ended someone's career with a cheap shot like that. He doesn't belong on a NFL field.
Same with the guy that knocked out Teddy Bridgewater. To me, that was also a cheap shot. I'm not a Vikings fan, but I don't believe in that kind of crap on ANY team.
These guys are getting away with more and more, and getting slaps on the wrist.

Agree both unnecessary. But something needs to be done about QBs. I've seen enough occasions where QBs know defenders are going to pull up either running OB or sliding so they make a fake move and than get extra yards as a result. Perhaps a penalty against the QB.
The world needs ditch diggers too Danny!!!

That's true. And you are right, they should address that very fact.

Of course if Goodell suspends him for more than one game, everyone will bitch that he has too much authority.

Talib's actions were unacceptable - especially when he is claiming it was an accident. Pretty sure the odds are slim that you are going to try to poke a guy's helmet, and accidentally poke him in the eye - and with excessive force at that. That kind of stupidity can jeopardize someone's career. He should miss at least the remainder of the season, as it is plainly obvious to even my coworker who is a Denver fan.

The hit on Teddy I am split on. While he did come in quick with his shoulder lowered, he also appeared to be trying to avoid excessive contact once Teddy went into a slide. The penalty was probably justified, but a fine might be a bit much. Either way, tough call for me. As much as I don't like Minnesota, I would hate to see a guy like Bridgewater have his career cut short. Maybe it is due to me getting older, but I hate seeing injuries regardless of the team.

All the above said, I am also agreeing that something should be done about these QBs taking advantage of the contact rules. After the hit clay put on Kaepernick a while back, it was obvious that players are taking advantage of the rules. If a player takes off running down the sidelines - they often will step out right before contact to draw the 15 yarder. Some will act as if they are going out of bounds, defensive player lets up on persuit, player stays inbounds and has lots of room to run. A defensive player is bearing down on a scrambling QB, they slide right before contact to draw the flag. There should be more review of these things to consider whether contact was avoidable or not. I'm not fully sure how you deal with the tiptoe ballet dancers down the sidelines, but it is aggravating to see them gain extra yards because they can't be tackled without a 15 yarder tacked on.

In relation to beating the ever living shit out of one's girlfriend garnering only a four game suspension, one game sounds about right here. That, of course, ignores that a suspension of only four games for beating the ever living shit out of one's girlfriend is absurd.

Hardrocker,

I have to disagree on your opinion of the hit on Bridgewater. After just seeing it for the 1st time and rewatching it, the Rams player was going for the knockout. Not only did he lower his shoulder but he actually throws his shoulder and body at him. I think the NFL should take a look at college ball and follow their steps. The refs watch replays and see if they were targeting (as this was the case here) and if so they are ejected for 1 full game.

Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

Talib is a punk. He hasn't the GUTS to admit what he did (with TV cameras right on him) and blames the guy he poked for over reacting to it.
A guy could lose his eyesight, and instead of apologizing, he acts like it was the other guy's fault.
Plus, if you are trying to push a guy's helmet, why would you do that with TWO fingers? Wouldn't you use your palm of your hand?
It was SOOO obvious what he intended to do, yet he acts like the victim.
ONE game.......NOT justice.
I bet he will get paid back by someone in the NFL for his cowardly actions.

We use to have some real cheap shot artists like Bill Romanowski, John Lynch, Mark Carrier, that safety from Jackonsvilee that damn near decapitated Robert Ferguson; and many more. There is a lot few dirty hits in the league than their use to be.

Aqib Talib should be suspended, no question about it.

The hit on Teddy Bridgwater. I have only seen it once or twice and didn't really see it as malicious at all. Yesterday I read Adrian Peterson felt the same way. It almost looked like the player was trying to pull up and twist out of the way and unfortunately hit Teddy in the head. Guess I'll have to watch the play again.
