Were the Chargers stacking the box and daring them to pass? I too was surprised they didn't try running Starks more but it may have been a reaction to what the opponent was doing.

Anyway, Janis got some reps and made two catches that were not checkdown throws. I hope this guy can start to win over the coaching staff because this guy can become a weapon.

He reminds me of a better physical specimen than that one guy out of Dallas. Cole Beasley. I hate that guy because he basically seems like a camp body but he always plays out of his mind. Some guys just make plays. Janis is one of them.

How do you not win the game when throwing for over 500 yards?

Answer:

Play the Green Bay Packers.

5 Our rookie DBs are gonna be really good, but they still get beat too much and have a lot to learn.

You argue that our DBs are gonna be really good. and you got me thinking when was the last time a DB from our team became really good.
Besides Nick Collins we have only had average or average+ DBs and our secondary has been our biggest problem for years.
We haven't produced an "elite" CB in eons and our safeties have ranged from average (Burnett) to please tell me another joke (Md Jennings).

So honest question: who do you think will become really good from our DBs? If you ask me I can put a small bet on HaHa but we can all agree he is still far from perfect.

Also I think you're maybe selling Shields short given when healthy the past few years he's played at a high level, especially this season.

Sidenote: Casey Hayward has at times shown elite level coverage skills in the slot. Even if he doesn't become a true outside CB some team will pay him this offseason. He just needs to stay healthy.

And under Capers the Packers should be 3-0 while giving up 500 yards... but some questionable ref calls and even more so due to questionable DB play Big Ben was able to make a last second TD to steal the game.

But really throwing 500 yards isn't away good for the team... as when QBs have thrown over 500 yards they're teams have recorded a 9-8 record (if Big Ben didn't score on the final play of that game, it would of been 8-9).

Looking at the numbers it's a little concerning that the Packers have allowed 3 of the last 4, 500 yard passing games... but again, they should be 3-0 in those games so not completing terrible as winning is the most important.

Another interesting note is that since 2000, all of the 500 yard games have either
~ been AGAINST teams with a very very good QB (Rich Gannon, Carson Palmer, Andrew Luck, Matt Flynn, Peyton Manning, Aaron Rodgers, Aaron Rodgers)
OR
~ been against a team form Florida (Dolphins, Jaguars, Buccaneers each have one... (Josh Freeman was QB for the Bucs and Chad Henne was QB at the time during the other two).

But going against great QBs sort of explains the low percentage of win record, also explains why they were throwing so much, trying to play keep up or keep ahead of the other QB.

In the 10 games since 2000, the team that threw for 500 yards is 5-5, with the OTHER QB (the one that didn't have the 500 yard game) normally throwing for 3 TD (70% of the time), over 350 yards (60% of the time) themselves and their team has at least 31 points (80% of the time). So almost all of these games are shootouts and yes Aaron Rodgers and the Packers missed ALL of those "normally" stats I just threw out there in the recent game.

The lowest scoring 500 yard passing game belongs to Brees (16 points) where he threw for 510 yards but had 3 INTs against the Bengals. Second is Rivers with 20. Also Rivers is the first QB to have 60 or more attempts while throwing 500 yards (so most attempts to get their of the ones who made it).

Aaron's passer rating was higher than Phillip's, according to Packers Therapy.

So the passer rating differential holds in this case.

DI'm not so sure getting healthy is gonna help, as most of the people out are the ones who were weak contributors when they were playing.
