Octuplets stun doctors at California hospital

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - A California woman shocked doctors by giving birth on Monday to octuplets , believed to be only the second set of eight babies born in the United States.

The six boys and two girls were doing well and were in stable condition in the neonatal intensive care unit, said Dr. Karen Maples at the Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in the Los Angeles suburb of Bellflower.

But two needed some help to breath with ventilators, she told a press conference.

The eight babies were born nine weeks prematurely by Caesarean section over a five-minute period, stunning a 46-member medical team that was expecting only seven babies.

They weighed between 1 pound 8 ounces (680 grams) and 3 pounds 4 ounces (1.47 kg) and doctors initially identified them by the letters A through H as they were born.

It's his own fault. He should have done what I did.
My true story, short version:

Discovered the wife was pregnant, went in for the sonagram.
Doc: "See that?"
Me: "Yup"
Doc:"Congratulations Sarge, your gonna' be a father, come back in about a month"

Month later:
Doc: "See both those shadows?"
Me: "Yup"
Doc: "You're gonna' have twins"
Me: speachless
Doc: "Come back in about a month for another sonagram.

Month later:
Me: "What are those shadows Doc?"
Doc: "You better sit down Sarge, you're gonna' have triplets"
I looked him dead in the eye & calmly said:
"You do know Doc, I ain't coming back here next month"

They just turned 18, 2 boys-1 girl, will try to get some pics into the "Members Pictures" thread when I get a chance.

"... There.. is.. your.. dagger..!! "

as a mother of twins, i cannot...CANNOT imagine 6 more...hell i can't even imagine ONE more some days. best wishes to them. my mom called me this morning & said this lady is gonna breast feed all 8 babies!!!!!! WTF?!?
